Looks great the big questions for me will be the price and if they can effectively get the hp down. Does Dodge have anything similar to revoknuckle? I'm sure they will have something to make it work. The competition in this class is getting really good.

Since Ford isn't listening apparently

DODGE- Make a two door version.

I pray Focus ST vs. SRT Dart doesn't end up like SVT Focus vs. SRT-4 did.

Ford needs to have their finger on the RS trigger to counter this. Put the smack down like the GT500 has on the ZL1. ;)
Exactly, Ford totally punked out with the SVT.

They shorted it on power and then killed off the car blaming slow sales when in fact they caused the slow sales with the lack of power. Very, very sad.

We know they have the ability to build a small car that will go toe to toe with anything anyone else can build so it's just up to Ford to find the will to actually build it this time.

Dear Ford,

This is Chrysler/Fiat middle fingers in the air, mooning your mothers.

You cannot allow that to happen.

Make the Fiesta ST. Give it 230hp, a six-speed manual, or PowerShift with real paddles.

Make it brilliant. Make it handle like an absolute dream. We know you know how. Now just ****ing do it.

I think Ford had a whole lot of other issues going on at the time and didn't have the resources back then to make the SVT competitive...look at where Ford was at then financially and its products vs now...I'd think they are in a much better place to respond to "threats" like this...if they wanted.

They already had the car in production in Europe with the first gen RS, granted is wasn't a world beater but it was a giant leap beyond the SVT and it could have come here easily.

They also shorted us on two other world class cars with the 2nd gen ST and RS but at least now they are in a better situation now so perhaps Ford will respond with something truly worthwhile this time.

Isn't the ST going to be every bit as good (mechanically) if not better than the new SRT-4? I realize it's hard to say, given we know very little about this version of the Dart... but come on people... we haven't even seen the ST in the real world, and I'm seeing an attitude of "C'mon Ford, be better"

Even if the Dart has more power (chances are, it will) ... it takes more than power to make a hot version C-segmant, brilliant... and that's what this Dart needs to be. Brilliant.

IMO, we've seen enough of what makes up the ST to make me believe that the chassis dynamics will be brilliant

Let's hope the SRT engineers can work their magic to compete with the ST.

Either way, we, the enthusiasts win!

EDIT: That rendering is absolutely gorgeous.

The new SRT4 is a complete unknown at this point, the uproar is about Chrysler giving it 300hp and since we already know Ford is giving us a 250hp ST we know the ST is going to be down on power.

The uproar is simply because we all want Ford to step up this time and actually compete in the small car market instead of their typical "that'll do" attitude.

You know very well that a lot of the buyers only ever look at horsepower numbers, that's one reason the SVT didn't do as well as it should have even though it could run circles around much more powerful cars on a road course or auto-x.

So yes, lets hope that the SRT boys work their magic and beat the ST and at the same time I'm going to be hoping that Ford responds and crushes the SRT with an all new RS.

Dodge is getting impressive...

My biggest gripe with Ford in the last few years, and honestly it's been a problem for a long time coming...lack of risk taking. I appreciate the new designs, but Ford is still far too conservative. I wish they would sorta toss aside the fiscal responsibility for a model or two and give us something truly outrageous.

I'm buying my next new car in less than two years. I hope there's an oval on the thing somewhere, but if they don't start shocking me more, there might not be.
