i've had them. they will melt your wiring harness.
 
the 90/100's need a h.d. harness adapter kit to prevent the harness from melting - ive seen them advertized from painless wiring (not sure of the web address) they list them in the summit & jegs catalog tho not so sure about the housing itself 90/100 seems HOT

I do not remember how powerful my blubs were, but whatever they were, they melted the crap out of my wiring harness, and melted a hole in the reflector assembly of the headlamp.

I learned my lesson.

If I want fancy looking, bright lights, I will just dish out some cash for the Machs.

Are you sure they're sodium? Seems like the color temp would be too low. I'm compairing this to lamps we carry at work. Most of our sodiums are around 3000-3500 deg.

But, I have been known to be wrong.

Actually, HIDs use Xenon gas. They operate at around 25-30,000 volts. There is no filament as in standard bulbs, just multiple archs across two closely spaced terminals.

Also, I used 85/105 watt bulbs for almost a year without a problem. I also did not buy cheap bulbs, but mine were great. I did use them a lot, as I did on average 1-3 hours of driving at night, sometimes as long as six hours. I also frequently had them on in the daytime for hours at a time. I had no problems with melting or anything else. I did not even have one burn out. But I did spend nearly $80 for the bulbs, so quality counts.
 
i had a set of Super white 80/100 bulbs (Z2000, or ZBulbs or something) for under 30 bucks and the super white fogs that would fit the stock sockets but were angled at the plug, and they were under 30 too.

i had them for almost a year with no probs. before i installed the Machs, i noticed the chrome was fading above the bulbs because of the heat.
