My Bullit chrome gas door is falling apart. Anybody else have this problem?

I'm very disappointed in the quality of my Bullit gas door.

At my hinge, it is very loose now, its almost like its broken. When you close the door, it has so much play now. And none if this happened until about 5 months after I installed it.
The "chrome" on the inside of the door is starting to peel also.

Does anybody else have this problem with the hinge, or the peeling?

What do the Mustang boys do, since this actually came stock on the Bullit? I'd be a little ticked...

My only trouble is the hinge freezes open, so it seems sloppy, but as soom as it warms up again, the spring hinge snaps back again. Its at the point now that I hate to get gas, because I know it will freeze open.

I also thought it was just the cold weather.
But after inspecting it, it seems to be physically broken.
And I don't know what to do know...
I'd hate to have to buy another one, and install one again, we all know what a headache that is...

I have a Bullitt door on my Stang . I've had no problems, but the Stang is always garaged,and I don't drive it during the winter.

Is your's a genuine Ford door ??

Mine is gunuine Ford.
My hinges do not freeze up but the chrome or polished like coating on the inside of the door is flaking off.

mine's a genuine ford as well - has the 'stang on the inside of the door. like the perma-cap, i've had this since october '01; been through 1.5 winters and haven't had a single problem.
