Since we are racing in USA and cheating is legal, is only bad if you get caught. At a national level, more money is spent on cheating than you can believe, that is why they are so fast. So, you can cheat and get away with it. Very rarely will someone protest you (for something that is not visilble). it costs money $$$ to do do.

You can bend the rules as far as you want, make sure if you break them: you break the right ones, you know the odds of getting busted and most importantly you know when to put the legal stuff on (based on who you are racing).

If you are new and slow (learning) cheating will not really help you beat the good guys and girls, it will bring you a little closer. They will always beat you on braking and cornering which I might add is the real skill.

So instead of modifyin gthe car to go faster, do yourself a favor and learn to drive the car to the limit of braking and cornering.. feel the tire flex and grip.. learn when it is about to break loose.. this will make you a lot faster than anything you put on the car.

Oh.. and about your mods, the bosal exhaust is nice, the cat is not necessary nor is the flex pipe. If you are allowed ( I dont know your rules) and AEM intake gives the most power and you can retard the timing about 4 degrees on both intake and exhaust.. if you dont use AEM cam gears, the stock ones can move since there is no guide pin. Do not get a lightened fly wheel. MSD wires are great.

You will be close to 135 at the wheel. 1/4 times dont matter for solo.

Man!!
It has all the aspects I enjoy in an article.
Knowledge,facts,some dilema,and to the point!!!
Thank you very much.
Now,a little more info on how to get away with it!

Protest is when a driver complains about another driver .. basically kicking his ass OR sounding faster.

If the item being protested is visible by looking under the car OR lifting the hood.. well the protest may only cost the protest fee (about $25 to 50) and there you go.. boom.

Now in different types of racing, you can do different types of things to cheat. My background is in the following, SCCA World Challenge, Escort Endurance cars, SCCA Nationals in Showroom Stock (NOT), Formula cars and more.

For a street class car, you can use a piggy-back computer to change the spark and fuel mixture without modifying too much and no one will know. Sometimes people use a inline resistor OR similar device to alter the signal from the O2 sensor to the brain telling it the car is cold and dump more fuel, this will increase performance.

You can change the valves in the motor to improve the performance of the motor (works with hondas and volvos). There are tons of tricks for everything.

Showroom stock is the biggest joke of all. Many enter thinking.. ha I'll buy a car, put a cage in, get a set of slicks and go racing. Then they get their asses tanned. SS cars spend the most money cheating.

More shortly...

Are you addressing someone/something specific on the Jet?

No offense, but what is this all about?

No, I am not addressing anyone in particular. I have seen many different claims for WHP and mods, also time slips some time do not reflect what people expect to gain.

I have seen a dyno sheet for intake, cam gears, pulley, exhaust, pulleys and minor other stuff come up to 135. So if the HP is off, so was the dyno.

A lightened fly wheel is great (it will always rev up faster) but what is important is which one. AAsco makes probably the best one I have driven. This is with a combineation of other mods because that will change how the car behaves.

This was a discussion on cheating in a racing/solo/autocross class.

Nothing personal, but it is people like you who destroy amateur motorsport. Sure you can cheat and most likely no one will protest you. After all, when winner and loser both pay out $0.00, why bother paying a protest fee?

As for cheating in SS, it is always there, but there are many people who run honestly and win. Plus, teardowns at National events keep most of the good people honest. Of course, there always seems to be that one cheat that the inspectors can't find.

I am in total agreement about your emphasis on seat time. The most important part of any car is the nut behind the wheel. How about sharing some driving tips instead of contradicting yourself and telling people to modify their cars?

What exactly do you accomplish by cheating in a Solo event? All that is telling you is that you are a ****ty driver who can't hang unless you have an illegal edge over the other guys. People like that piss me off. They deserve to get kicked in the nuts.
