I appreciate the kind words, and I do know that there is a small group here that seems to appreciate a civilized discourse on technical topics. I can fondly remember the
long posts on left foot braking (my Jet calling card) and the great discussion with Todd of TCE on brakes.
But, I think you all see my point. The Zetec engine forum has degenerated to the point of people doing nothing other than trying to defend their purchases. While the information is often good to start, when the 12th counterpoint is added, the thread is a waste of time. Honestly, this forum is the only one that I look in on everytime I log on. FI has some real tech junkies that share some gems, but even there, people get real chippy about things. Can't say I wouldn't if I had dropped $3K+ on a boost kit and someone called it crap, but it doesn't mean it constructive.
Perhaps as part of the proposed reorganization of this forum we allow a little leeway when the question is perhaps not about motorsport, but clearly tragetted for a motorsport audience. For example, my requirements for barke pads are
completely different than most peoples. Posting a question about fade resistance in the brake forum is a little more than a hope that someone that I respect from their posts in this forum happens to see it there and respond. Trouble is, where do you draw the line? I don't know and it isn't for me to decide. I just don't like the fact that these sorts of posts get moved by the moderators now.
Fact is, I really enjoy the time I spend here. The worst part is that none of you live close to me, so it is unlikely we will ever see track time together. I'd love to get everyone together and share give each other some driving tips, set up hints and then just tear it up.
EDIT: post was too damn short. I have a reputation to uphold.
