Seriously, my only suggestion to improve this forum would be to try to separate the quarter milers from the corner carvers, because they have an entirely different mindset that is difficult to combine. FocalJet has so many Forums already that adding another might not exactly be a good idea... But I could be wrong. The 1/4 mile guys also significantly outnumber the auto-x/road race guys, which doesn't help.

See, now we are making progress.

And I think that your idea makes sense, since dirrefent types of racers are interested in different things.

Assitionally, if there is a concern about the "maturity" factor in the forum (and I know there is...), you can always apply to be a moderator. As you know, Ron sets some basic guidelines, but it is up to the community to police itself.

So... who set that board up? Who was booted? Most of the only people booted are people I didn't like anyway, so I ain't gonna join a board run by somebody I didn't like.

Why run away to another board? Cause this one is getting out of control. I'm no longer allowed to say ANYTHING anymore, for fear of being labeled "egomaniac" and "know-it-all".

FocusLacy's post in regards to me in the header thread should have been instantly deleted. That type of thing cannot be allowed to continue. If he had wished to dispute my claims that it was a crappy looking weld with some evidence to the contrary, that's one thing. Continuing his crusade against me on a personal level CANNOT be tollerated!

That kinda BS is driving knowledgable people away. Everytime somebody who knows something opens there mouth, there's some A-hole accusing them of being elitist.

Dude, FocalJet is still my main site on the 'net. I am NOT having any loyality issues. I still have my FocalJet decals on my car and I still pass out the pimp cards. Nobody here is abandoning you

Well I'm not anyway. Sorry if you and that other guy had it out that's a bummer

Rob, as you know there are policies against attacking other members personally. If in fact you feel/felt that you were being unfairly attacked then why wasn't I (or another staff member) made aware of it the moment it happened? Instead of making an escalating battle out of it?

I just recently became aware of the "header" thread. With hundreds of thousands of posts on this board it is impossible for me (or any of the staff) to see, read, and critique every single one of them. We rely on other members to be our eyes and ears. If there is something that needs to be addressed and it hasn't then it's probably safe to say it's because we don't even know about it.

A little communication goes a long way. Our staff is one of the most responsive ones in the car discussion board arena. If we are made aware of a legit problem or issue we will take care of it.

I read ALL suggestions on improving the site. I don't necessarily do everything everyone asks but I do comtemplate what they propose.

I like the idea of splitting the motorsports section into the quarter mile and the guys who go around corners -- The discussions have little in common.

However, I don't think the Motorsports section here on FJ is terribly bad -- heck, if it suffers from anything, it's lack of posts half the time.

And gee, the boards back in 1999-early 2000 were only full of knowledgable hardcore fans because the only people on the sites were people who were awaiting the Focus and were interested before they were driving one. Nowadays, every boy and his dog has one and they show up here. It's much harder to have a discriminating group of users when the car's everywhere and the jet's one of the best known sites for it.

If there's improvements we can make here, I'd rather here them. I don't know why you all chose this forum to complain about the board as a whole, but here I am...

Oh I had to re-log on for this one. I have no problem with anybody or anyone. I merle have stated facts and all I got in return was excuses. I was tired of the same things that most talk about off the board. I am sorry for the "BLAHDY" post that got me band, and I wasn't calling anyone one, nor does "FOCALJET" have to defend itself. Yes, you have 6300 members and I realize how hard it is to manage.

All I wanted to do is help you guys and you ignored me. Now I am out on my own and doing just fine. I hope you feed your Motorsports Enthusists. It is what they need to survive. We are not taking anybody from FOCALJET. We want to create a more 'focus'd racing network of information.

You all have a nice day and I am sorry the only post of mine that are spoke about are the reality ones.

Love, Peace, and Happiness. You all need to keep smiling, its not worth it!

Ron, I know you're very busy with everything on this site and all the other things I'm sure you'd much rather be doing.

But this thing with Lacy has been going on for quite some time, you've seen the stuff that has gone on in the past, and I've forwarded to you some of the nasty-mails I've gotten from him in the past. It's not a case of me never letting you know, his behaviour has been unacceptable for quite some time, and you have known about it.

Again, I'm not holding it against you, but the time for Lacy to be gone is now.

If behaviour like this is not punished, it is tollerated. If it's tollerated, then I'm not comfortable being here.

It's not a case of me growing a thick skin, believe me, mine is very thick. I couldn't care less what some "internet weirdo" thinks of me. I'm more concerned about his unprovoked attacks damaging my reputation here.

Other people on this site have been banned for FAR LESS than what I have had to put up with from Lacy.

I'm sick of having to look at Lacy consistantly attacking Rob. I bet over 1/3 of his 300 odd posts are directed at him.

He is a joke who needs to get wasted. He contributes nothing.

As for splitting up the forum into sections, I don't think it's needed. We can pretty much tell which topics interest us by the title. We can choose to open them or not. I guess its similar to the off-topic forum. About 1 out of every 20 threads interests me; I don't have a problem sifting through the junk.

The content/noise ratio is out of control here. I understand the need for sponsors and commercial support, but so much of it seems to be centered around the percieved need people feel to have to defend their purchases. The Tom/Cajun feud is just one example.

Maybe I'll go on sabatical like I did last fall. Take some time to let the stupid stuff stop pissing me off. Then come back with some stuff a small group of people seem to appreciate. Honestly, everything outside this forum has gotten really weak. Ron, if you are reading this, it is nothing personal and I think the site is amazing. The truth, however, is that the over 6000 members aren't. Time to be a dictator and really piss some people off, IMO. Reign of Terror sort of thing.

As for suggestions, would it be possible to add buy/sell into every local chapter? Without the fee as local guys like to pickup/paycash for stuff face to face and not rip each other off...
And a G2G forum for every chapter as well...It may make browsing for info cleaner...
Definatly how-to page, product review page and also a single page with all the sponsors right there banners take a while to cycle....

I love this site and all the info contained within....Keep up the great work,

Milan

That's the truth. A few bad apples step in to tell you that your time isn't valued, but everybody that appreciates your info and time just read and pass.

I know that many of us, myself included REALLY enjoy what you bring to this board, we just don't take the time to say it!

So anyway... Stick around! Please!

I appreciate the kind words, and I do know that there is a small group here that seems to appreciate a civilized discourse on technical topics. I can fondly remember the long posts on left foot braking (my Jet calling card) and the great discussion with Todd of TCE on brakes.

But, I think you all see my point. The Zetec engine forum has degenerated to the point of people doing nothing other than trying to defend their purchases. While the information is often good to start, when the 12th counterpoint is added, the thread is a waste of time. Honestly, this forum is the only one that I look in on everytime I log on. FI has some real tech junkies that share some gems, but even there, people get real chippy about things. Can't say I wouldn't if I had dropped $3K+ on a boost kit and someone called it crap, but it doesn't mean it constructive.

Perhaps as part of the proposed reorganization of this forum we allow a little leeway when the question is perhaps not about motorsport, but clearly tragetted for a motorsport audience. For example, my requirements for barke pads are completely different than most peoples. Posting a question about fade resistance in the brake forum is a little more than a hope that someone that I respect from their posts in this forum happens to see it there and respond. Trouble is, where do you draw the line? I don't know and it isn't for me to decide. I just don't like the fact that these sorts of posts get moved by the moderators now.

Fact is, I really enjoy the time I spend here. The worst part is that none of you live close to me, so it is unlikely we will ever see track time together. I'd love to get everyone together and share give each other some driving tips, set up hints and then just tear it up.

EDIT: post was too damn short. I have a reputation to uphold.

As an apparent "Moderator-to-Be", I strongly agree, that proper considerations should be exercised, and in the past I've had good luck. I posted my Auto-X tire questions here, and they were LEFT here, as I believe they should have been. I don't remember which mod. or admin. responded, but they conceded that my Q was more performance/racing-related, and therefore would receive more useful response here. I propose that we all maintain that standard/precedent, where appropriate.
Those who are "MotorSports-Oriented" will be much happier 'Jetters that way.

TeamDFL,
Actually, Atlanta isn't very far in the scheme of things and CARS, www.worldcarz.com , will be holding a track day at Carolina Motorsports Park this year, so I'll be up there for that.
