How does this affect classing? I looked throught the rules, and didn't see anything. I'm assuming it's HS legal (I'm STS) since it doesn't change the timing, right?

I'm pretty sure that's not H-stock legal. The only parts of the ignition system you can change from stock are items that otherwise need periodic replacement, plugs and wires. Everything else has to stay.

Nope, definitely not legal...any part that you change pretty much has to be a stock replacement.

Yeah, that's kind of a bummer. Even though it probably yields less than 1/3 hp, it'll bump you to FSP... Not sure about STS, because I'm not an STS monger... yet.

So, its a juggle between FSP and STS, huh...

Hoping its the latter... The car isn't quite FSP material yet.

Well, I reviewed the rules, and I can't find any text that explicitly says you CAN, which typically means you CAN'T. I'm talking STS.

Just got word from SCCA. It's a stock legal replacement.

Excellent! So it must fit in the stock mounts and be shaped like the stock unit? ie.. Normal wear and tear item?

If it produces the kind of power that the website claims, then... hell yeah! At very least, it certainly won't HURT! It offers the ability to increase your plug gap... which must mean that it is more than a rebadged stock coil like so many other. I'm toying with buying one and running it at the next dyno day.

I wish there were cheap dynos here.

I'm not expecting much power gain, but a little in smoothness and efficency, with more spark being exposed.

I'll keep FJ posted on any details. myFordFocus.com has one installed, and he's happy so far.
