Air bag light came on

My air bag light has come on three different times over the last six weeks or so. I took my car to the dealer but the light wouldn't come on when I took it in (just my luck). The light will come on when I start up my car, stay on for a few seconds, then blink on and off nine times at one second intervals. It repeats this process several times, and then the light stays until I turn off the car. Does anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? The light seems to come on after the car has been sitting out in the cold for several hours (about 15 degrees F). FYI, I have a 2002 ZTS with side air bags.

The airbag module should hold the code whether or not the light is on. I would recomend reminding the dealer of this.

That is what I thought, but the technician at the dealer said that the airbag system does not store a history of fault codes.

Even still, the tech should be able to duplicate it. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but when I was wrenching, the Air Bag system was my specialty and I could almost always duplicate the concern. It isn't that complicated of a system to make it act up.
