Pretty simple really, just give the mileage that it was replaced at, the year of your car (it matters). Also include if the engine stumble was present but corrected after the fix. The reason for this thread is that so many people have complained about this item however its spread in 8o some odd threads across the Jet. Lets start collecting some numbers here in one place and send it to Ford for a look into.

DPFE replaced at 19K
Stumble was getting bad however was not presnt after DPFE replacement.

The part that malfunctioned on mine was

I had mine replaced twice on my original focus a 2000 SE, once at about 5k and again at around 8k but since traded the car in for a 2001 SE. I think I got a lemon the first time around. I bought the car late in 1999. No problems with the new one yet and have over 25k on this one.

What code does it show when the sensor goes?
I have a problem with mine. exactly what is the DPFE sensor

Had mine replaced on my 01 ZX3 at 5500 miles, CEL came on and stumbled pretty bad, got a new DPFE and been fine since. I beleive DPFE stands for Digital Pressure Feedback Emissions, not fully sure but that is what I was told.

it was replaceed around 10,000 KM still same issue after the fact.

I had TWO replaced. One at about 16,000 miles and one at 30,000. Check engine light and stumbling were present. It ran better after the sensor was replaced.

I didnt get the code number from them. The dealer plugged it in the the diagnostic and it showed up. They said to bring it in the next day so they could get the part. The thing that got me was that night I researched this on the Jet and was amazed at how many threads there were about it. Symptoms thats its going bad are the engine stutter, a jerky motion when at constant speeds under low throttle (30 MPH, 3RD gear, 2100 RPM). Feels like the tranny is toast. Then of course the CEL will come on but that didn't happen for a few weeks after the stumble started. Problem was corrected entirely after sensor eplacement however my concern here is that some owners are having multiple replacements.

Are we seeing the trend about the cold weather??? Being that the Focus DPFE is made of cheap plastic and if moisture builds up inside, the moisture will freeze and crack the DPFE. With the DPFE not functioning, the CEL will pop and so on... Can we say future recall. By the way, all Focus years use the same part number from Ford, so no they haven't really "fixed" the problem, just replaced the culprit. Yes it can happen over and over again. It's the design of the part...

i think i had mine replaced twice..not sure how many miles the first time but i just had it replaced 3 days ago...just a little under 15k...1 more time and its a lemon i think

Just had my DPFE Sensor replaced today at 21k miles. The dealer said that it would fix the problem. After about 1 hr after leaving the dealership, problem still exists. The engine stalls, and the orange light with the apostrophe mark with a gear around it comes on. (says in the owners manual it's for the Transaxle coolant system but the dealer said it doesn't apply to my car because it's a 5 speed and not an automatic.) I explained to the dealer that the way I read it was "Zetec or Automatic" I have a 5-speed Zetec. I give up with these guys. I'm really tempted to just trade in my car for a freakin' Jetta.
