Hey whats up fellow Svt owners? I am kinda a new member to this board but have found it very informational. You guys seem like a great group. I am the owner of a silver SVT with about 1,700 miles on it. I was wondering if any of you had an experience with you cars hesitating in first and second gear, it even bucks sorta if you know what I mean? Mine started this last night its like something is not catching. It almost feels like the clutch plate or something. I am going to take it and have it looked at. Any input would be greatly welcomed. Does anyone else have a silver SVT in columbus? Thanks guys and love the board keep it up!!!!

Iceman, are you talking about the throttle body recall for the SVT or something else. If your refering to the sensor as the throttle body, I don't see why that would cause any fluctuation during acceleration.

This may sound stupid, but are you sure that your fully off the clutch pedal when you expirence this "bucking" because it might be as simple as the flywheel not being fully engaged when your revving it. I'm not knocking your driving abilities

but it's just a question.

It's a simple fix... it keeps up, take it in

Its cool J-Rod I thought the same thing at first. I told my buddy about it and he said the same thing. Then when we went to lunch today and he drove it and it did the same thing. How many different recalls have there been on the SVT?

yeah the TB recall...

that and some emission crap on the exhaust is the only ones that I can think of..

if its bucking or jerking...it could be the TPS sensor..since that monitors the TB butterfly movement...or it could be the TB itself..maybe its sticking a little bit or something??

I think that this may be somewhat true. The SVTs I drove had a slight stumble/surge around 2700-3000RPM of steady state driving. Although not as bad as a stock Zetec.

My theory is that it's something in the ECU that is emissions-related that causes this. Once I chipped the old car it never happened.

Hello...I have noticed this "bucking" situation in my car. Currently I have 3000 miles on the odometer. I feel certain that it is related to the emissions equipment on the car. Have adjusted to it. Concerning the surging at 3000 rpm's...have that too...mentioned it to the SVT mechanic...no answer...have adjusted my driving style to that as well. Either I find a lower gear or bring the RPM's up. These cars are not Honda's and I'm glad...I like the slight edginess of a good old American performance car. Be well.

Well I took her to the dealer after work today and they messed around with for about an hour. They then came out to me and asked if it did it all the time because they had hooked it up to all the computers and it seemd fine. The guy who was working with me then said cmon lets go for a ride because he did not feel it when he drove it. Of course the car then started acting fine. After a few minutes it started doing it in first gear. He goes huh I wonder what that could be. It was about seven then so I have to drop her off in the morning so they can have some transmission guy look at it. I really dont see how it could be the tranny but wwho knows. Hope they are able to figure it out it bothers me. I know I am probably just being picky.... Oh Well
Later
Will keep you guys posted

This happens with mine in the morning (or after a lengthy park) but only for the first couple of miles. Once the car's warmed up it's perfectly fine.

A friend of mine who just picked up a Sonic Blue noticed it as well on his so I'm guessing this behaviour is common to all SVT Foci or to Foci in general.

Ah the pleasure of owning an exotic.

For some reason mine does not stop doing this even after it has run for awhile. So Im not sure whats going on. Hope it is an easy fix though.

I have noticed it myself.. more specifically starting from a dead stop. I didn't notice this until I had the TB recall work done.

hey guys,

I have noticed something similar as well - but only when vehicle is cold. When I start moving in first when cold, it just doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. Nothing seems wrong, just seems to me that the EEC is still in warm-up mode and it won't put itself into the correct air/fuel tables to give us any power. Again, I don't seem to notice this once warmed up.

Ok here's the update I took it in this morning around 8:30 hoping to pick it up after work at 5:00. Deaaler calls me and says there is something wrong with it but they don't know what. They are going to have some special tech. look at it in the morning. So I hope to have it back tommorrow night for the weekend. Worst part Im only 19 so they can't give me a loaner.

Will keep you posted

Dumb question, but... is your A/C (or defrost) on when you experience this bucking? If so, you're sensing the change in engine load when the compressor clutch engages. In the lower gears, the engine load is lower, so having the compressor kick in creates a larger percentage change in engine load.

Just had to ask... I've always been amazed how many people complain on CEG about "bucking" due to the compressor cycling. If it's not the compressor, then this troll will just go back under his bridge.
