Last night I was taking delivery of my SVTF... I instructed the delivery coordinator that I did not want the car detailed except for the removal of the chalk markings from the factory.

No problem.

I go through the final paperwork and see my beatiful blue baby in front of the dealership. YAY!!!

As I walk towards her, I see a scuff on the Front left tire.....

As I peer closer, I see a gouge on the front left rim.

The greaseball in detail curbed my farking car on the drive from the garage to the front of the dealership....

The salesman and delivery coordinator could not believe it... I have a new rim coming.... Ford is picking up the tab... and I have an ugly rim for a couple of weeks....

Dealerships are war zones for cars... What a way to tarnish the evening.

*sigh*

I can relate. When we went to pick up my wife's 2001 New Beetle 1.8T, I walked around to the back and looked at the temp license tag and just above it was a 3-inch long gouge where the installer had slipped with the power screw-driver and zipped it up the paint..

Nothing that a new lower bumper unit and a day of shop work couldn't work. I believe it was about a $1000 parts and labor screw-up..

Just picked up a new GMC Envoy to keep the SVT Focus company in the garage. Believe me, it isn't just a Ford problem. When I removed the dealer stick on logo from rear lift gate I found a 1 inch long screw driver gouge through the paint. Evidently they got it on off-level or had to remove another one from the dealer they traded with to get the vehicle. At least the Focus arrived without any damage.

Update...

Got a call from the Dealer today... My wheel is in.
Image

Taking her in on Saturday. I am a little scared of that place now...

I hope she doesn't fall off the lift!

Glad I was the tech working on my car. I had a friend in detail take care of the detailing for me. There is to much going on in a shop that makes it a dangerous place. Add in bad drivers and it surprises me more damage does not happen.

The saga continues....

I get to the dealer bright and early yesterday to get my new wheel!!!!

I wander around the dealership for an hour or so... kicking tires...dodging salesmen... Then, I hear may name called over the loudspeaker... YAY!!

As I walk into the service area, the service manager makes a joke about it falling off the lift!

(Is he on the jet?).

Anyhoo... I go out to look at my car and the "new" wheel looks even worse than the old one.

Scratches all around the centercap, and along the bead area.

So.... I have wheel number 3 coming... Looks like I get to spend another Saturday morning at that damn place.

This time he will "check" the wheel before calling. sheesh.

Won't do any good. They probably did the damage mounting the tire and putting it on the car.

When I ordered my SVTC, I told the salesman that I wanted NO DECALS on the car. Told him that if there was one on there when I arrived to pick it up, I would make them remove it then and there.

Not to be a complete pr*ck, I told him that he was more than free to put on of those license plate brackets with the dealer info on, because I would just remove it when I got home. That way his boss didn't get on his case. He plopped the bracket on the table while we were waiting for the car to get driven around front, and gave me a wink. Never even put it on, just stuck it in the trunk for me.

I just wish my Blue baby would get here! 7 weeks (or is it 8 now?) and counting, will take your comments to heart and insist that the dealer label be left off. In consideration of the jerking around I've been getting they had better submit on this request. Just keeping the fingers crossed that I get the car unscathed. Luck with the wheel!

OK....

Wheel #3 is in. I will be visiting Mr. Dealership tomorrow to get it put on.

Please, everyone pray to the car gods for me tonight. Maybe, just maybe, it will be all good tomorrow.
