If you expected pictures, sorry. I'm learning how to use a couple of CAD programs. Once I've got them down I am going to be designing a widebody kit.
Not some meager fender flares, but more of a fender replacement kit. I want to widen it by 2-3".
I have some ideas but if anyone with drawing skills or who uses photoshop (or equivelent) wants to come up with some designs and email them to me that'd be great. If I do use your ideas or parts of them I'll give you credit for it and you'll be the first to see the CAD/rendered pictures.
If this project works out well then maybe we could sell the kit design to a bodykit manufacturer.

Hey, it could happen.

So, if you've got ideas. Lemme know.

sicko: I have Rhinoceros 2.0 and IntelliCAD (just like AutoCAD but hella cheaper). I'll mostly be using Rhino though. I've been absorbing the tutorials that I find as fast as I can but if I have questions I'll let you guys know.

zetecracer: If you want, I could post them for you. Just email me them and I'll put them up.

rhino looks very cool.

anybody that uses autocad should also download the free intellicad! has got us out of a ton of jams. will read a file when autocad wont.

Very cool! I do AutoCad. Mainly architectural stuff. If you guys need help let me know.
Or if I have questions i'll ask you guys.
I have been doing architectural work since high school and CAD stuff for about 4 years.

Hey, we could get a sweet design team going here!

Rhino is a sweet program. Saleen used it to design the body on the S7. I downloaded the evaluation version of Rhino and found a nice little patch that makes it full version.

If people want it, I got it (the patch that is).

This is where I got the idea of using Rhino to design the bodykit(s): http://www.ifrance.com/LMD/html/audittUS.html

If someone knows where I can get line art drawings of the focus like in the tutorial it would be most appreciated.

Oh, and I forgot to mention in my original post that I am designing this kit for the ZX3. If it turns out well maybe it could be adapted for the sedan. We'll see.

AutoCAD? Man, I haven't used that program in highschool 5 years ago... if you wanna get some kick a$$ CAD software expirence look into ICEM surf. If deisgn is a field your looking to get in then spend the $$ to get training. Surface guys make some good bank. Ford, Porche and Harley Davidson (and I'm sure others) use ICEM for all their surfacing. It rocks!

Hey SIC, nurbs are so bad-a$$! I use to go to school and learned NURB modeling on Power Animator. This was way before Maya, and was an industry standard. Now that SGI basically forced Maya, on everybody, I tried taking courses to learn Maya on SGI, and found it quirky compared to PA, but pretty powerful. NURBS allows you to make just about anything you can think of. I hate programs that use polygons for modeling.
