Okay, I'm trying to find a few odds and ends I'll need for my setup. One of them is hose couplings, elbows etc.

I know JGS has some, but not the ones I need.

How is everybody hooking up to the throttle? I think I'd just use a silicon elbow? Or is it better to use a straight coupling and a metal elbow?

My compressor outlet is only 1.75" OD, and I can't find any hose couplings that size.

The compressor inlet is a weird size too. 2.434" I measured... so I don't know if I can get a 2.5" to fit well.

Also, I need a flange to weld onto my downpipe to mate with the flex pipe. Is this any kind of standard flange I could get anywhere?

Lastly, does anybody make anything like a 2.5" flex pipe? Preferably stainless steel?

Okay, I found YoDude/TruBendz makes a 2.5" flexpipe in SS. Great. I imagine I can get an extra flange from them to mate up.

Is this stuff any good quality? I've never used them.

It says something about modifying to fit your exhaust system... what's that about? I have a 2.5" Borla system.

Did you even consider calling Gerhard: http://www.aerocharger.com/hoses.htm

He might still have some of this stuff laying around:
1 3/4" (RED) ID reinforced silicone hose for 53000 Series Compressor Outlet
2 1/2" ID (RED) reinforced silicone hose for 53000 Series Compressor Inlet

I have a yo-dude 3" stainless flex. The craftsmanship is pretty good but the welds and flanges aren't stainless. I have pics of it. I don't think it will matter too much though since the engine side of the exhaust doesn't rust any way nears as fast as the catback or tailpipe would since it gets so hot. I was told they were going to change to full stainless except fo the welds and I could return it and get an improved one. I haven't gotten around to it yet and don't know if I'm going to bother.

UNFORTUNATELY this stuff is SO expensive

i got my 90* elbow from TURBOHOSES.com

The guys are local to me here, next door...

$60 for a 90* 2" dia.

OUCH, its nice, but damn, i just hope it stays on my compressor and not blow off...i got some T bolt clamps for it

HEllo, kinda new on here. As far as the throttlebody elbo goes, I have an elbo off a cadillac Catera on mine. It's 3.25 on one end and 2.25 on the other and is a tight 90 bend. Works for me, maybe it will for you. Can buy new at any GM dealer For about 15-20 bucks

Hey cool, got any pics?

Anybody know if the stock Focus TB tube can hold any boost?

If your looking for an adapter for 1.75" to __ ,
I can call my suppiler and see what he has instock. Another easy adapter is go down to Napa or any good truck shop, Ask for rubber stick hose.
Also remember you can stack connectors on top of each other for the same effect as a reducer and generally cheaper. I have seen 3 hoses stacked on top of one another hold 30 psi.

I got a lot of the parts I need now, but I still haven't figured out how to do the TB connection. It's a 3.25" OD, and it needs to pull a 90* bend with 4" of height... a pretty tall order.

What are people doing?

That turbohoses place doesn't have 3.25" id, what did you use Naz? Also, those prices... damn. And the radius is so tight...

Do you remember South County Motorsports? They Had a focus intake that had a intake kinda like the one you are looking for. I have it and will look for a picture of it. If i dont find it by the end of the work day i will shoot one this weekend.

Down fall is that South County Motorsports gone. But before turobnetics change there site i saw the elbow they used for sale

More later

TragiC

Do you have picts of you turbo build yet? i would love to see them

I assume that Naz's is like mine. The charge pipe has the 90 welded on, and the pipe swells to the 3.25 in the last 2" or so.

Kinda hard to see, but the Fmax kit doesnt use a rubber/silicon elbow at the TB. Naz bought his 90* for the bend right on the compressor housing (since his old turbo had it welded on).

Hope that helps,

Brad

Ok, so it's like a 2.5" tube, with a 2.5" elbow, and then just flares out to 3.25" right at the end, with a straight little hose coupler? Gotcha.

I could do that.

I hate flaring it at the end though.

Then you've got a 2.5" tube, that flares sharply to 3.25", then closed down very sharply to 2" for the throttle plate.

Talk about inefficient. I don't know why Ford has such a big inlet to a TB that only has a 2" plate...

Fortunately, my fmax came with everything

I used that tight 90* elbow for the compressor to IC pipe, because the compressor shoots out at the radiator, and the IC pipe runs up along the radiator, so i needed a very tight 90* elbow...

Now i just hope it stays on and doesnt blow off, i got some Tbolt clamps that will hopefully work

If not, i will have to get an aluminum elbow and weld it on...but after i spent so much on that silicone stuff, i just wanna try it first
