The very busy launch scheme of European Ford models is the reason why RS is postponed. Just look at all the new models that Ford has put in production the last months: Mondeo TDCi 130 bhp, Focus TDCi 115bhp, New Commercial Vehicle Range, Focus ST170, Mondeo ST220, New Fiesta.
Besides, launching the ST170 after the RS would have been a mistake.

The RS will come, but as always with FMC, late!

Yes sir, we also got some big time excitment.
Relatively, we got brand new Expedition!!!!!!!!!
...like we f...ing care.
Ford N. America wake up before all of potential future buyers will turn around and go with Toyota, GM, Honda etc.
Potential Focus buyers, (20-30 years old) are treated like **** and it will cost Ford a lot in the future.
Wake up Ford, we don't want those Big, Old, Lazy Boats that you are selling to us.
We don't want Crown Victoria, 3 different SUV's and Taurus along with bearly breathing Escort!!!
Give us your best!!!
Treat us the same way as the rest of the world.

Cry, cry, cry ......

Do you really believe that? You don't think that they've had several problems developing the car which has caused the delay? Jon

Sure they did, maybe you should try to bring +200bhp onto the front wheels.

The picture was sent to me, no source quoted.

Errr...but my point was that you said:

...at least implying that that was the primary or even only reason for the huge delay. This would appear to be untrue, since many sources have indicated engineering problems with the powertrain on the pre-production RS Focus.

Saying that the delay was caused by a busy launch schedule makes you sound like a Ford Europe marketing executive...

Jon

It could be that they did have problems with the drivetrain which delayed development, which is now sorted and the car is awaiting the green light to go into production. The fact that the car has yet to be released. Its not unusual for manufacturers to have fully developed cars and production ready delayed due to marketing reasons. I really don't like the new 'Mondeo' front styling, or the air scoop or the rear spoiler though.

I'm not a marketing executive, although I promote Ford of Europe through my website.

[QB]It kinda reminds me of the Japanese Nissan Pulsar (SR20DET w/top-mount intercooler).

That, my friend, is a Nissan Pulsar Sunny GT-i...
I believe they only sold them on the other side of the pond( Britain,Italy, and also Japan)... A very cool little car.

I think, well, it is rather fugly on the front end. I have to agree with the rest here, PhotoChop in its' mediocraty. The lowers could be the new local for a dedicated DRL, not necessarily indicators. But look at the front wheel in relation to the rear, and the HLs are definitely outa-whack. Many years to go, and by then it will look "cleaner" and NA spec will have similar changes I would imagine, not to mention what may be done with an SVT version.

A few bits of info ive picked up in the UK.

1.it is based on the next generation focus as making the present 1 awd is almost impossible withou totally rebuilding the chassis (like they did with the wrc)

2.it will cost about ÂŁ30-35,000 in the uk so about $44-50,000.

3.As the name suggests the engine is by cosworth and is a 2L zetec turbo as with the RS but it will make 400-450 bhp as standard. (cosworth will be probably be using either a T4 or T66)

4. there is no plans to take it to the US however it might appear as a limited run.

5. the awd system is likely to be quaife (therefore top quality) as they have been working with ford alot over the RS.

Si

I seriously doubt that the output will be 400bhp+. More likely to be in the region of 300.

I'll sign the petition for this car... that is downright phat looking.... and clean to boot!

Volvo is responsible for the AWD integration on the MKII platform, I think that it may use a volvo AWD system.

2.0 Zetec or a 2.0l special Duratec HE (modified block), with direct injection and electronic turbo spool.

The mazda6 MPS will use a 280hp turbo 2.3l Duratec HE, with Direct injection and Electronic Turbo spool.

Mazdaz and cosworth have been working together on the new turbo engines for a while.

The new engine design and manufacture does not prohibit it from being modified and but still built on the same tooling as the unmodified engines. And stronger bottom-end but using the same heads and other parts from the duratec HE is posible.

Keep in mind that the UK price is not necerally an indicator of what FoMoCo will charge in the US for exactly the same model.
Even in N.A. the prices can differ substantually (sometimes in thousands for a $25,000 vehicle) for the Canadian(cheaper) and US markets.
Ever heard of Honda not honoring warranties for the originally canadian sold "grey" market cars in the US?
