timing belt & cam gears

do you replace the timing belt, when installing the esslinger cam gears.

Some say, nay.

Others say absolutely, for safety reasons.

Do I or dont I, that is the question.

how many miles does your car have on it? if it doesnt have many- i see no need to do it. its a PITA as well as un-needed. if your car doesnt have a lot of miles- the belt is not stretched out, therefore you need not replace it.

Just use the factory one I did at 12k and it runs like a champ.

I think the life on the factory timing belt is 90,000-100,000 miles. I would not hesitate to reuse a belt with only 8,000 miles.
