Focussport race header and flexpipe (about $500)
cam gears (about $275)
exhaust (around $400)

Big time difference in power. Lowballing it I would say at least 20hp. Put the stuff on yourself.....its not hard at all if you have power tools.

I really dont agree that the first things to do should allways be the intake/exhaust route with the Focus. The header and exhaust are not really that restrictive at all comapared to hondas that allways get a new exhaust as the first thing they do. I would say get an UDP pulley first because that will give you the biggest feeling in power, at least it did, and its only like 100 bucks. Then Cam Gears because those do like 6-8HP on the wheels with a stock car and can do more with the more mods you do. Now your up to about 350 bucks.

I would say get a good intake like the Ingen or the Eslinger and will be about 200-300 bucks. And with the left over pick an exhaust of your choice, i would get one with 2.25 inch pipes and stainless steel. That should put you in your price range and give you a real good power increase and your car will sound like a sports car. I wouldnt buy a header if you are going with a supercharger. You will get more HP with the stock header on because the supercharger likes the back pressure. If you do get a header get one that loses the cat like the Focussport racing header because the street header only gives like 1hp and thats just not worth the cash. I hope i helped you with your choices

I'd suggest:
AFX UDP - $1250-$100 = $1150

Esslinger or Kent adj. Cam Gears $1150-$250 = $900

Cat back exhaust $900-$250 to $400) = $650-$500

With the remaining money, I'd get springs and maybe some other suspension upgrades.

ok... i should be getting a big check from the insurance company... i'll spent about $1000-$1250 on performance for my New Focus (once i get it)...

a pully sounds like a good place to start... what do you guys and gals recommend?

$1250-$100Pully = $1150 left

I'd say if you got a chunk of change like that, why not look into head work. This company Gude in the new issue of super street
is putting out a zetec package. That should get you quite a bang. I take it, its not often you have over a grand in your pocket, at least not I, so its easier to come up with a couple hun down the road for a cold air ind. or UDP. Eh?

I would recommend AGAINST Gude. if my information stands correct, they are also known as, or once known as, Bullfrog... they don't use new stuff (such as Crane), they just re-grind. not only that, but, last I knew, you have to send your part(s) in the be done (at least TB and cams) and that means downtime. if you don't mind having "used" parts in your ride, and can deal with the downtime, go right ahead.

can anyone prove me wrong?

I agree with you. I saw a ZX2 S/R with a gude head package dynoed on Friday. The S/R has the gude ported and polished head, gude bored throttle body, and gude reground cams. Also it has the FZRacing header. It dynoed at 137 HP at the wheels if you set the adjustable cam gears to make peak power just before redline. When making the peak power be at around 6,000 RPM, so the power was more useable, it dynoed at 130 HP at the wheels.

My ZX2 S/R dynoed at 122 HP at the wheels with a header and AFX underdrive pulley. It doesn't seem like that head package is worth the money.
