ok i was looking at the mods on the shaun carlson focus i say we just bite off him ehehe the xtrac transmission is what phordman was talking about along time ago.

Meguiar's commitment to the youth market continues with their title sponsorship of the soon to be fastest front wheel drive drag car in the world. The Meguiar's Ford Focus, built by Nuformz Inc of Ontario, produces between 800-1000 horsepower out of a 4 cylinder Zetec Ford powerplant. It's full carbon fibre body and tube frame chassis weighs in at about 1250 lbs. Providing most of the power is a huge titanium spooled turbo by HKS.

Ford dropped everyone's funding, that's why Nelson Hoyos is not driving the 7 second Yellow Focus any more and has switched to a Cavalier.
Its why you won't see the Esslinger ZX2 in action any more.

Its friggin retarded.
 
I thought the Zetec got dumped for a pinto-type engine.

i want to pimp slap some of the bone heads in here that think shaun carlson drive a pinto focus. the focus that has the pinto motor is the yellow station wagon. shaun drives the meguilar focus. dam that pinto focus is done by esslinger shaun is all zetec. and shauns ride is front wheel. hey can focus sport hook us up with shaun carlsons package if so how much?

FORD is stupid, they want to be big in the aftermarket with this stupid focus and show honda who is boss, but then they wont fund some of the fastest FOCI in the world, NUCKING FUTS....oh well
 
so he is running a pinto engine right?

i recall some mags saying that ford stop funding on the project and that resulted in the change of engine.

not to mention that the car looks completely different now with a new paint scheme and a different wing (changed due to some issues with downforce...or sumthin).

I heard the same thing from my buddy at Edelbrock.. The Pinto blocks can really make a lot of power. There are plenty of dirtrack racers running 225 plus NA with the 2.3 liters...
 
I read this thread and thought -- Pinto? Pinto?? Pinto?!?!?! You mean like my 74 3-door Pinto I had in college??? I should scan a pic I have of that car and post it.....pretty hilarious.

But it lasted for 5 yrs of hard driving, until the radiator got messed up and I had some $$$ and got rid of it. DARN, should have sold it to someone wanting a strong 4-banger block!!

Thanks for bringing back all those memories of being scared of rear-end collisions!!

I could have swore that I had a Magazine at home showing the Meguires Focus with the 2.3L SVO/Thunderbird Engine (Pinto does sound Ghey).

The engine is Single Cam and is mounted transverse to the Focus Engine.

I will try to look tonight when I get home, but I am almost positive it ain't no Zetec no more?
