It may be a bit off topic and I may not know how to post an image, but anyway if this does work I just wanted to let all the future PZEV owners know how nice its going to be replacing the oil filter on this engine. It jumps out at you when you peek under the car from the front

Re: A little of topic?

Honestly... If it is going to damage the filter, then it is probably just as likely to crack that cast aluminum oil pan. The angle of the picture is deceiving.

Watch for big objects... Those oil pans will not dent, only crack.

Re: A little of topic?

Yeah, its nice having the filter 'right there'...But Ill never change my oil, so it doesnt matter to me...Gotta love free lifetime oil changes...I hope they dont get annoyed at me getting it changed every month, though...

I just wish the filter on my truck was that out in the open...

It is a little difficult to tell, lets give it a side view

An icy snow bank in the winter, a little bad luck, dont know, the filter is only 1,5 inches above the oil pan, and that housing looks pretty thin and weak.

Re: A little of topic?

...Well, at least I can put to rest the fact that an 18-inch piece of truck retread wont damage it...Some dumbass cut me off and kicked up a piece the other day on my way to work and it went bouncing along under my car...

th engine was orininally designed for the cartridge oil filter, that is made from alminum and hangs down less than the can oil filter now.

eventually ford will switch to the cartridge. If you want you can order the filter houing from europe or mexico, and switch to the cartridge system. be warned the Its more expensive to replace the filter.
