Has anyone else had problems with rust stains developing on the wheels? This just started happening to me about a month ago. They've been developing between the spokes towards the center of the wheel. Also, it's not like the car is stationary for any long periods of time, and I also wash it at least once a week, while paying rather close attention to washing the wheels as well. Curious if anyone else has run into this.

Well, I'm taking my car to the dealer in a little more than a week, and I plan on bringing it up. Most likely it is covered by warranty, I can't see how they would tell me it wouldn't.

I have the same problem. Seems like they didn't put a good clearcoat on the rims. Let us know what they say?
By the way, If you use any spray on wheel cleaner you might not want to tell them because they could say that you stripped the clearcoat with it.

That's definitely odd... Considering the wheels aren't made of ferrous material and can't rust.

Is it possibly just rust transferring from the rotor hub face onto the wheel? That would make more sense.

I would say either from the rotor hub or even the lugs/lug nuts. And something I noticed on mine(aftermarket though), is down in where the valve stem is. I get a bit of rust in there. I am planning on changing rims so no biggie, but something for you guys to look at.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm not going to worry about it until I hear what the service dept has to say...

Same exact problem with mine... I actually had the same problem with my old focus too. I think they just don't coat the wheels very well. Probably just cutting cost. I would be very surprised if the service dept. is willing to replace them, but you never know!

I got to believe this is rust dripping down from the hub/rotor etc.
Try "drying" your brakes after washing the car. That means run the car and drag the brake enough to get it warm/hot. Half a mile does the job. This will dry the rotor and other non painted iron. Iron rust is hard to remove from most items, as there is a strong bond that forms. Don't know if it is molecular or atomic, but they like their condition once deposited. It takes a chemical reaction to remove usually rather than a physical effort like scrubing. That means a rust remover item which is usually harsh on the surrounding surface. Not good little shaver.
