I'm with you. Take for example the MK3 VW Golf/Jetta/Cabrio (93-98). Although there were more VW's sold than SVTF's, companies are continuing to perform research and development on new products...and VW just released the MK5 in Europe. So, granted, the sales aren't as strong. However, is customers demand quality products, the aftermarket will cater. If we demand nothing more than altezza taillights and 3 foot wings, we'll never get anything else. Besides, the SVTF is a tricky car to tune because of its advanced level of factory tune, and the complex ECU used to drive it all...development takes time. All we have to do is show an interest in these cars and things will happen. My suggestion: email companies looking for parts, whether they exist or not. If that company is worth their webpage, they'll do some market research and see if a particular product has a future.

Well just FYI, I've heard differently (2nd hand) from some higher ups within SVT. That there still is plans for a new SVT focus. Maybe not in 2005, but there are plans.

No of course these are all rumblings from the underground, and I don't think we'll know for sure till the time comes.
I wouldn't start holding your breathe until at least 2007MY thats when it MIGHT come back as of right now. Ford just doesn't understand the compact crowd, they have a 215hp turbo engine sitting over in europe. We don't need a wider track and sparco seats with leather, but they want to push that. Bring over the RS engine in a 2005 Focus and we'll be able to beat SRT's on roadcourses all day and still do it for under 20k.

Too bad they won't open their eye's......

I'm not surprised. I just feel that most people really don't know about this car. It's a shame. I wonder how this will effect the after market for us SVTF owners.

SilverSVT is correct.. it's dead. My contact @ SVT just told me today. Their focus is going to the lightning and cobra right now. Unfortunatly, I can't say I'm suprised.

SVT Focus DEAD after 2004!!!

SVTF needed more power from the start. 02 was the learning time
03-04 should have been the shine time, Turbo..... LSD........ WTF

If they would have heard the MANY request for more out the the focus
not just pretty seats and new HD lights

I'm very disappointed in FoMoCo.

All the other car makers are going strong into the sport compact
SEMA was a great example of the big sport crowd

O-well............ SVT........ R.I.P.

Re: SVT Focus DEAD after 2004!!!

Maybe there is no SVT Focus listed in this information because the next generation platform has not been scheduled for release, like the Mustang and F-150. If and when the new Focus comes out in North America it will be a shame if SVT does not take advantage of the increased chaise stiffness and the 2.3L engine option lying around. I think maybe if SVT did something to this next generation Focus (if it comes out here) it will be a chance to rule the segment for quite a while, even if we won’t see one for a few years. Just a thought.

It's all about money. The greedy bean-counters know they can't get $35K out of a Focus,at least from one year to the next, so they need some smoke and mirrors distraction.

Don\'t forget about C.Shelby

If he comes up w/ a turbocharged "GLH" equivalent for the focus, we'll forget all about the demise of the SVTF.

Wishful thinking anyway

Whatever. I love my car.

Like someone else said, when the time comes to replace it, I'll choose what's best for me at the time, not the sequel to my current car. With any luck, that won't be until MY07-08-09. By then I probably won't need/want a Focus even if there is an SVTF.

Resale? Anyone worried, truly worried, about resale doesn't understand the economics of new cars. It never pays. You always lose. It's like complaining that one slot machine is paying out less than the other.

Relax everyone. Either enjoy the car SVTF you have, or run out and buy one soon and start enjoying it!

*rant off*

I'm not sad.

I think one thing people are forgetting here is exclusivity. There is a reason the certificate says your car is a "limited production SVTF". Personally, one of reasons I like my SVTF is the fact that it does not look so damn garish, like many of the Japanese tuner cars do (Honda, Subaru). I rather like the balance in the styling, the handling, and the powertrain for the price paid. Now I frankly haven't seen a SVT Contour ever, but I know they are around- that is part of the mystique with owning an SVT.

I still wish Ford would have brought over the FocusRS- that looks like a hell of a car without any modifications. In North America, Ford is a truck company, that is where the profits lie, so I do not think Ford's North American operations have much incentive at all for improving and updating its car lines.

Thank you....some people need to worry about more important things at times....

Personally I am not surprised and like someone already stated the SVTF is a limited production vehicle.Ford has done this in the past with the SVT Contour and the Taurus SHO and from what I read in another thread the limited production Focus RS in Europe.I am extremely happy with my SVTF and when it comes time to get a new vehicle what is on the current market will dictate what I will purchase whether it is another Ford or from a different Manufacturer.

Hmmm.....

There is a fully loaded 2003 Euro SVT Focus at my dealer. heated seats, cold weather, audiophile, HID's, etc.

They droped the price to 18,900 (list is 22,540)

They have had it since late June I think.

Maybe I should take a look at it...

Re: Its DEAD but ranks 100%

Just read my 2004 Consumer Reports Book Guide and guess what?? Only 2 cars out of ALL cars in the book rated 100% at the top of their field. One is our beloved SVTF
Image
!! The other is a BMW. So it figures Ford would kill the winner now that the quality is up.............aaaarggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Re: Its DEAD but ranks 100%

dont forget, foci gets a restyle in 05 which starts to show up in late spring of 04. Also, the new futura sedan based on the mazda 6 will be showing up at the very end of next year as an 06. Most likely svt will work with that product line. The old contour was the us version of the mondeo, which has just been released in uk again and has a sport version out already. "focus" pardon the pun, may go back to that vehicle type again for svt. heres the link to the uk car http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/mondeo/mdo_overview/mdo_st220/-/-/-/-

ford has been putting off new development because EVERY car will be changed next year, fords "year of the car". The past three years have brought 3 fantastic redesigns to the trucks. Next year gets the new mustang (which has about 4 "special" edition ideas mach-cobra-shelby-boss being toyed with), It will be incredible. The five hundred luxury sedan is another amazing car, including awd models. freestyle is a crossover suv, already in use in australia comes in in sept. The futura shows up at the end of the year. the foci gets reworked a little bit. Of course the gt this spring, which is currently putting every german and italian car more then twice its cost to shame. plenty of special editions to come, its going to be a very good year.

if you want to see some truly amazing vehicles, play around on fords international sites www.ford.com , especially uk, germany, and australia

The article (http://www.detnews.com/2003/autosinsider/0311/23/b02-332341.htm) I read said:

"...Other possibilities include supercharged versions of the Mercury Marauder and Lincoln Navigator, a Mustang with a V-10 and a turbocharged Focus.

In 2005, Ford plans to introduce the Focus ST, which stands for street tuned. It offers slightly less horsepower than the SVT Focus - 155 compared with 170. But it will have more torque and likely cost less..."

We have "collector's items" now. Get 'em in the garage and pull it out for fun occasions.
