...I have a question on the 'ported intake manifold'...Umm...Isnt our manifold plastic??

you can still port em, dependign on how the molds were made, there could be a great deal of thickness of plastic. There might be huge restrictive bumps, or just flash.

the y2k focus intake has all of htes features, this is why it repsonds well to porting.

but what does an intake manifold do? And whats the point of getting one ported?

imagine you're looking at yoru engine. THere's the throttle body, then there's the plastic doohicky that splits into four pipes, each pipe going to a different intake port on the head. THis is your intake manifold. Often times the intake manifold is smaller than the throttle body (esp if you add an aftermarket one), so the TB isn't moving as much air as it could if hte intake manifold was wider. ALso, this allows more volume of air to be held in the intake manifold at any one time and thus improves High RPM hp, because more air is readily available.

Also, because of the mass production, often times the inside of hte intake manifold is very rough, full of bumps, and extra pieces of plastic that disturb airflow. Just removing this crap can be worth an hp or two.

Good thing to do if you plan on an aftermarket TB>
