Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

Well, at least now I have a tenative track schedule for the year:
-------------------------------------------------
June 18-20 SVTOA SummerFest
Virginia International Raceway

August 20-22 SVTOA Mountaineer Madness
Summit Point

Thanksgiving (give or take a week) G&W Fall Fling
VIR
-------------------------------------------------
That's probably all my vacation and bank accounts will be able to afford. Two 'driving schools' and one open track day. Perfect for the year.

Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

egz-the teeny weeny one, the jefferson circuit. as a rule it is used for motorcycle races because of its width. also used for driver ed. what we should do is figure a good weekend for all with nasa, who will be there for at least 5 weekends this year. that way we would get a lot more track time, run either shenandoah or the main course and also get to watch some races. (on their hpde weekends there are also races.)and bri, this is not meant as a shot, believe me. just checked-they are there in may, june, sept and august. the 7/10 weekend is also the hyperfest weekend.

No offence taken, I just wanted to put this out there for every one. I’m going to get in touch with the organizers and get all the real details then we can decide if we want to do a group even there.

Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

i was not crazy about camping at hyperfest last year, but thought that might attract some more jetters. besides hpde, they have drifting, bikini contest, ensgine swaps etc. cost for the hpde is 299 for 2 days. that includes 4 or 5 classes and an instructor. that is on 7/10 and 7/11. and is run on main course which is great.

Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

Yea, I'm jumping the gun a little bit with my above schedule. We'll have to see what comes up in the next few weeks. Then we'll come up with a rough schedule.

Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

eric, i can understand why too well. i'm going to leave work shortly(supposed to stay til 7)cause i can't stand it any more. gonna go home, put race rubber on and load car up. the winter is always tough. what was even worse was car being in shop for 6 weeks! see you guys monday with vir report.

Re: Just in East Coast Track Monkeys

Damn, I had to read that like 5 times to understand it. The pun kept getting me.

You're saying that SVTOA is dropping some of the drag events in favor of track events right?

I got it in three, and that was one of the easier ones. Guess I'm not hip to the 1337 h4x0r.

I’m not trying to argue but where did you hear that, I’m pretty sure they had about the same number of On Track Events last year. I may have to bust my shirt out and count the '03 dates. I know the VIR date is new to the south East region.

It’s a shame if they don’t do a Drag event with the Free State, I had a food time and was looking forward to going again.

Cool I’ll be there.

I did get some new information about the VIR event, they will be running the new Patriot circuit at 1.1 miles.

Is there one locally? MD is too far for a straight line.

I thought Jefferson circuit was Summit?
You are Correct Sir.
Sorry Bri, Incorrect.

There are 3 seperate courses at Summit Point and they are not inter-connected for racing.

The main track is called Summit Point. It is 2 miles long and has 10 turns. The pictures that I have posted here of Gary were taken on the Summit Point track.

The Jefferson Circuit is 1.1 miles long and only 30 ft wide with 9(I think) turns. It is used primarily for driver training and motorcycle races. VIR's new Patriot course is much more interesting than the Jefferson Circuit.

The newest track is the Shenandoah Circuit it is 2.2 miles long and the turns are duplicates of turns from famous racetracks all over the world(eg. the Carousel at Nurburgring, etc). I posted a layout for it in this forum a while back - search for Shennandoah. I was talking to a fellow at the store today who races karts at Summit. He said that Shennandoah was finished and ready to be used. He was over there last week to look around. I think that EMRA has someting scheduled for Shennandoah in March or April(I think Gary posted someting here about it earlier)

You can see the Summit Point and Jefferson Circuit layouts at Summit Point
