Re: LCA update

Ok, I just spoke with a Ford mech and he was under both an SVTF and a ZX3 at the time. Both rear LCA's look completely identical. In fact, the LCA's on the SVT even had the small (unused) hole in them for the e-brake line that feeds the rear drums on the non-AdvancTrak (sp?) cars.

Of course, there could be a change in the materials or something, but as it stands, it doesn't seem that there is a beefier SVT version.

Also, I got a little more info on the recent SVT LCA failure. Seems the tire also whacked the brake lines pretty good. Completely kinked the metal line and rubbed the rubber hose almost all of the way through. So at even higher speeds, he could of lost all brakes as well.

Granted during this accident he was sliding down the road on the passenger side of the car backwards, so brakes weren't of much use anyways.

Sounded like the belief was that the tire failed, and the flailing tire whacked the LCA, which encouraged the failure, and this caused the undercontrollable spin. This would tend to make more sense as the accident occured driving down the freeway, and not while cornering or putting any increased loads on the LCA.

Hopefully we'll have pictures up in another week or so.

Re: LCA update

Uh, Slick, you're talking about the trailing arm, not the LCA. The trailing arm has the hole for the brake cables, the LCA doens't. The LCA has the spring on it.

I'll see if I can confirm all the models have the same part number. The SVT supposedly has the same arm, just reinforced.

Maximum Motorsports sent me an email and said they were not interested

Re: LCA update

Supposedly the wagon is an odd-man out. Not the same part number, dunno why. Course, they probably don't care too much, since wagon don't get raced much.

Here is what I got today:
Sergeant,

Thank you for the inquiry and thank you for your service to our country.

We haven't produced any parts for the Focus because there really isn't
enough of a demand for them to substantiate the R&D. Since the Focus came
out, you are the first inquiry we have had for LCA's. I will pass you
request on to Kenny and see if he would be interested in pursuing the Focus
market further. Kenny has spent his career working with Mustangs and is
developing race pieces for that model especially the IRS Cobra.

We are an authorized Ford Racing Parts Dealer, they now have performance
parts for the Focus. If there is anything in there that you would like to
order please let me know and I can set it up for you.

David,
I applaud your crusade and have something to think about. There are three Focus (that I know of)in the Speed World Challenge Series. The rules state:

2.9.8.6: Suspension components shall be the stock OEM pieces, but they may be reinforced. Heim joints are permitted on suspension components. Standard
suspension bushings may be replaced with solid, or spherical, bushings.

So three teams have modified there cars to achieve the camber/geometry desired with the OEM pieces. So far I've contacted 2 teams. One is running -6 camber in front and -3 in rear.
What I'm getting at is if the aftermarket falls through there are people out there modifying the OEM pieces.

Here we go, we have a interested manufacturer.

dave cremarosa <danddmotorsports@yahoo.com>

We will not do a production run, but if you want to
send us a stock set, we could possibly build you a
one off set of arms.

OK as you all know I cannot get to my LCS's to ship them. Does anyone have a set to be used?

So you expect some one to $hip a pair to them and maybe never see them again so YOU get a one off set??
Image

Why don't you use your credit card and PC and have a set shipped to them?
Image
No so that WE as in Focaljet racers can get LCA's for their race cars. Also it is a little difficult to buy LCA's while I am in Kuwait with OIF.

Jinstall, not trying to start a flame thing.

From the post above they offered to do a one off for YOU. Quote "We will not do a production run". If you got internet and the digits it doesn't matter if you are on the moon.

How's this? Send me $150, $25 for postage and return postage and $100 for deposit on the arms. If these guys return mine undamaged in a reasonable time. I'll refund the $100.
By the way my work may take me to kuwait again too! Last time I sent flowers to my wife so I don't see your difficulty.

Well I was hoping that someone had a set of LCA's in their garage(maybe P51) that could send them in. That way the 6 or 7 of us that really need these could get them. When I get back to Germany I can get a set for cheap from the dealer and send them. Please don't take this the wrong way but I don't know you but I do know a few other jetters that I would be happy to send a deposit to(Michael Xi, P51). I have delt with these guys before. Yes flowers from OIF is easy I have sent many flowers, plants and gifts from $20 to $1000 from here. I have gone and given other Jetters parts that I had spares of for the price of shipping. Ask anyone that I have sent stuff to that I ship to them at cost, including all kinds of european spec parts. I guess I will have to wait till I get back to Germany to get some LCA's to send to this company. They send me hello letters about once a week. James

OK how about this. Whoever is interested in this chip-in and get a set of LCA's to ship to this company so that they can make a couple of sets for the people that REALLY want them. A list of email addy's can be included so that we ALL get the info at the same time. Now we just need someone to send PayPal to... Michael????
