Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I got in my focus and the turn signal reset no longer works. So when I go around turns the turn signal will not reset itself. Is this a problem with the stalk or is there some mechanism in the steering collumn that I should be looking at?

Thanks,
Andrew

i had this happen. there's a spring inside the wheel that needs to be replaced. i had the dealer do it under warranty, so i couldn't tell you the best practices on getting the wheel off.

So to update this very old thread. I finally got fed up with turning the signal off by myself and took the cover off the steering column and pulled the turn signal switch off the car.

Well it turns out that the switch is funtioning fine but the small piece of plastic on the steering column that hits the toggle switch when it goes by has broken off the column. I couldn't tell if it even replacable. Does anyone know if I can buy this part without purchasing a big chunk of the steering column? I will try and post pictures this weekend to show you what I am talking about.

That part is integral to the clockspring and the steering wheel will need to be removed to replace it.

Bump of an ancient thread. I think this same thing happened to me on my way to work. At the top of my street, where I always turn right, I encountered a tiny bit of resistance. Kind of like when there is an uneven road - like when construction has one lane paved and the other one grated down, and you need to switch lanes...

Well, after that happened, I noticed at the end of my trip that the signals would not reset. Nor did the wheel click like it was supposed to.

Does anyone have anymore insight - like part numbers, or a procedure to try and fix this? (I am out of warranty) Or, if the plastic thingy broke, maybe I could just epoxy something in place?
