The SVT is an 02, but I am new to it after my local dealer got a used one in and I grabbed it. Previously I drove an 02 ATX ZX3 and had never driven stick before. I've been on MFF's board since Feb 2002, but the more I read here, the more tech-savvy FJ seems to be over other forums, and I intend to have my techguy skills transcend into my carguy skills more and more as I perform upgrades and add mods. Two good friends of mine are SVT Cobra owning brothers and their attitude correlates with my approach and intentions with the svt focus.
I am going to have a lot of questions as time goes on, but I think they will be well informed enough to deserve answers.
For now it is my daily driver, so I don't wish to go too nuts. I want to eventually go FI, but probably not till I own a 2nd vehicle, though the JRSC seems conservative enough and it seems to make a considerable difference in the 1.5k-4k rpm range where it needs it most, though not as much in the upper ranges, plus they have the new SVT specific one that seems to alleviate some of the probs of the prev. The Quaife diff seems mandatory if I ever go FI, or even if I don't. I might get the SVT JRSC, and sell it when I go for something more involved.
From what I've been reading over here, SVT people seems to really like the ORP even though it's technically illegal, right? I think I like the FC CAI and might even consider their goofball ram-air hood just to be different.
I need four new wheels. I'd like a different shifter knob. I might do the diamond plate floormats to annoy my friends and do some aluminum trim here and there. My side-mirrors work, but have both been busted-off at some point so those might warrant a change. I replaced the terrible ebay halo projectors that came with it which were wired incorrectly. They were replaced by a pair of the TYC "blackouts" that look conservative and stock. The box suprisingly said "fast & furious" all over it. I won an OEM replacement for the missing mach sub, though I already popped in a self-wired/spliced blaupunkt MP3 player. The mains don't seem to be able to handle as much bass as my ZX3, so possibly they are different as they were supposed to go along with the sub. I am hoping there will be a way to use the MP3 player with the sub, but the outs arent crossed-over so who knows? Something can be hacked.
Besides the CAI and ORP what else is obvious? The SVT does not seem to start as happily as my ZX3. Maybe upgrade the ignition? injectors? plugs?
My favorite mod so far has been my SVT licence plate frame
Also, my vehicle doesn't say "focus" on it anywhere. There is one badge that says "SVT"
