I was looking at one of these and it's really peaked my interest. Especially for the price that I was looking at it for. Pro's/Con's driving impressions blah blah.... I have been on www.sccoa.com and www.tccoa.com already but I want to know what you guys all think.

reliability issues... my best friend's mom had one and ditched it within 18 months... and that was after it was in the shop 5 or 6 times for extended intervals.

the damn thing is a boat!

what would you be getting it for?

they arent great daily drivers, but my 2 buddies with them love them as cruisin weekend cars. great for flying on the highway!

i personally love the cars... but im also a former mark viii owner so i have a thing for land yachts with lots of horsepower

Stay FAR FAR away from the SC...I had so many issues with that car.

Replace FULL brake system.
Blown Heads
Radiator
Sensors
Oil Leaks
Electrical.

want more? let me check all my receipts. the only reason I kept it was becasue my best friend was a mechanic and did all the work on it.

I had a '91 SC that went 112K on the original plugs AND wires and was only barely missing.

Just like ANY OTHER CAR there will be better built examples out there.

The Thunderbird SC is a great car, cooling and head gasket issues seem to be the only troubles. It isn't an easy engine to work on ( to get to the back plugs you have to go up under the car and feel for them ), but it can be rewarding, the SC can be turned into a quick vehicle.

95-95's had 230 HP from the factory, and are the rarest. If you find one in moonlight blue ( '95 ) and 5 speed, you have a pretty rare car.

MN12'S don't get the respect they deserve, remember that car was voted car of the year when it first came out, they called it the poor man's 6 series.

go to www.3.8mustang.com

I chilled over there before I came to FJ. I happen to love the 3.8v6, it loves being ported, and it loves its cams (it'll take a pretty large cam without any loss in driveability, and actually improve in MPG and emissions) (ford under-cammed the car so it didn't step on the early 4.6's toes.)

I also like positive displacement blowers.

There's a couple guys on there doing crazy stuff (12psi boost + hefty nitrous shots) and stuff like that.

talk to them, get a good idea.

p.s. look for a canuck named jamie

i've forgotten his handle, but he's 'the dude' when it comes to these cars

if you decide to buy, PM me with your hp goals and i'll give you a list of things and where to get them

My last car was a '90 Thunderbird, not the SC. I have mixed feelings now that I've gotten rid of it. It was definitely a POS, but it was like it when I got it, and it could have been better if I had put time into it. My brake lights would sometimes not work, and no one could figure out why. That was not a good thing. Basically, weird electrical stuff were my biggest problems. And the driver's seat was stuck in the reclined position, so I was forced to roll like I was pimpin' the whole time. Oh yeah, and my turn signals also didn't work half the time.

So I don't really miss THAT car. But when I see a nice ca. '94 Thunderbird rolling around looking nice. I miss it a little.

Devon my uncle had a 1989 SC (first year of that body style) and he loved that car. Ended up selling it as he was getting married, owned a c5 vette as well, and was buying a house.

He regrets selling that car. He had almost no problems with it (other than little stuff). It was a 5spd.

It was quick.

The only problem with the MN12 was the damn weight.

Get it, the SC is great.

we had an 89 and my dad was always on the look out for an updated one, like 94-95 but when we couldnt find one we got our first focuse. sc tbirds rule though. i think u should get it and give it to me

my rents had a 95 V8 t-bird that would really move... only trouble was the brakes had to be replaced a bit.

I really enjoyed it - I learned to drive in it. Also, a V8 is in the first scream movie.. when they are driving from the party house to the football field to see the pronciple hanging from the goal post or something, and they almost run over the Dewey guy and courtney Cox?

Get it! Love these cars! 4 wheel independent suspension, 4 wheel discs, rear wheel drive! Definetly an undrated car. the 94 and up cars had a great interior feel too. I had a 95 V8 that I absolutley was crazy about, wrecked it though, but never had a problem and it had 75K on it. The SC (with its body kit) was absolutly beautiful styling wise as well, just perfect proportions.
