Well like the title says is there anything I could do to get it out??? Or is this the famous cylinder lock problem alot of people had problems with???

Everthough the key is stuck in the cylinder, can you still start the car? This way you can atleast turn the key to get to the unlocking pin and then remove the cylinder with the key in it without having to do any drilling, if you choose to do the job yourself.

If you're still under warranty, Ford will replace the lock cylinder.

Otherwise, go to the dealer parts department, order a ignition lock cylinder. Once you get the lock cylinder, take it to a locksmith with your other key and have it "keyed" and also have them cut you a new key.

This way you can install the lock cylinder and then reprogram the new key to the PATS.

Mine just did the same thing this morning at about 4AM but I was able to get the key out however the ignition cylinder is shot and is being replaced. It sucks, its costing me $250 and a lost day of wages at work.

Yeah I could still turn on and off the car the key just wont come out. I'm going to try and work on it this afternoon.
Thanks for the info.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up some parts, so I will ask what a ignition lock cylinder lists for. As for having it rekeyed, I would go to a reputable locksmith.

The reason is that the dealer will more than likely send the cylinder out to a locksmith, pay their price and then mark it up, as they should. My brother in law bought a used Taurus and had the dealer make him a new PATS key. It cost him about $112.00 for it.

A PATS type key by my local locksmith is about $50.00 and to rekey the cylinder I have no recollection.

If you can, you may want to have the locksmith remove the original key if possible to save you on buying a new key, but that cost will go into the labor to remove the old key from the old cylinder.

Whether you bought your car new or used, hopefully you have the owner's manual with it. In the manual, it tells you how to reprogram a new PATS key and you will need the other original PATS key that came with the car to do so.

So many options, so little brain cells to do the important thinking.

I got hooked up. Got the cyl for $67 and they keyed it for me. Also delivered it to my work because it took them longer than expected.

Can I leave the lock pin out when I install this?
