For those SPI'ers who are looking for exhaust and dont know what to choose let alone have that much cash. I suggest MBRP, it doesnt hurt the bank, and sounds awesome. When choosing for an exhaust I wanted an audio sample of mrbp, but couldnt find one. So here you go, audio samples of my mrbp exhaust setup. I just gotta say for the sound and performance [not that much] its worth the $199. These are three samples of my exhaust, and a bit of my intake which I ghetto modified myself [homemade cone adaption]. The intake sort of sounds like a turbo spool, which wasnt intended but love that sound.

Tell me what you think of the car, how it sounds. I may not have a more meaner car than any of you other SPI guys out there but I just love my SPI now.

Front End [front of grill] *note hear the intake*

These audios are all from a parked position, was low on gas so didnt want to drive around. But the sound is a bit the same, its A BIT quieter top end.

sounds great

almost like you got a turbo or something. i should be getting my mbrp kit anyday now. i ordered it a couple days ago. fyi there is a sound clip if you go to the mbrp website and go to the focus page. but im sure it is the zetec talking and not the spi. i guess ill find out if i like it or not. is it really loud inside, ie lots of cab resonance. and you think its loud enough to get you pulled over??? i was just curious b/c in the shootout results, it was rated the loudest @ 92db.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

Not even enuf to get pulled over! The nice thing about this exhaust is that when u let of the gas it gets quiet. So if you see the POPO! haha rolling by let off the gas. There really isnt much cabin noise, its just deep but I mean the stereo or whatever u bump will drown it out. The deep rich sound only happens when u are on the gas when its idle its ALMOST quiet.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

It sounds pretty nice. And it does sound like a turbo.

Yes i know. I will post pics on how the intake looks soon.

steble: yes i was told that was the zetec engine with headers i think.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

is it just the sound that makes you want it or does it give our motor some power and benifit in airflow . i wouldnt want it if it just sounds good . :

but if it does add some power and flows better ill look into it do you have a link to it .thanks

lmfao.

It has power benefits. But you are gonna need more mods than that to feel a difference IMHO. Throttle response should be greatly improved...it was when I first had my FS installed umpteen years ago.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

All the reviews for the mbrp exhaust, well at least from this forum are all the same. There is a SLIGHT change in throttle response and more agreessive down end [later gears]. Again if your just sticking it on to an SPI with stock headers and cat, u will still have some restriction their [header and cat]. Once u free those two points up with any exhaust then u will recieve even more on the power bend. I have stock headers and cat, and have FELT a great more difference. It was worth the price. If you want to recieve the greatest performance go with thermal or FS exhaust. But again those two exhausts are expensive. The mbrp exhaust is worth its price.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

I hope your kidding? Red is correct. I mean as long as you dont get an can exhaust of the bay [ebay] then any aftermarket exhaust u put on should technically free up all that constriction. The mbrp is not the best, but it does have its benifits.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

ive said it before and ill say it again. my theory is yeah, the fs or thermal or whatever may be better i dont know for sure. but heres what always catches my attention, the price. mbrp is 199 bucks right now. if you want to pay an extra 150-250 bucks for a female pubic hair more power that other systems may offer than be my guest. but keep in mind. different parts work better together in unison than others. im tired and ranting, this is just my opinion. for all i know, the mbrp exhaust could be the best ever. all i know is ive read alot of reviews from both spi and zetec guys about it and all have given great reviews. so that combined with the price made me purchase it. now if only the usps man would hurry up and bring it to my door already

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

OBX are good-quality fleabay exhausts. the welds are gorgeous now. They've really stepped itup, and i for one, prolly wouldn't spend the extra cash to get the 'real' thing.

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

i would like to change my header and cat for aftermrket ones but not sure of legal issues . is the fs header street legal and will it pass inspections ? and i do understand that any bolt un system would add some power to a car
Image

aslong as it is not going to make me not pass inspections then i would be looking into this system where can i find this at ? any links thats

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

i would say you are looking for a friend who happens to be an emmissions inspector. im pretty sure you wont pass your inspection, though it does depend where you live. me i live on a military installation, therefore i dont have to do any emissions inspections
Image
. but then again i have no proof that you will or will not pass. im sure someone will chime in though

well i live in nyc and i cant understad why some companies are 50 state legal and others arent . is it all about money or do these other companies make better stuff then others .
if you put on a aftermarket cat on does that make it still legal ? anyway ,this is not a emissions post . but still where can i look for this mbrp system ? thanks

Re: MBRP EXHAUST *audio sample*

well this isnt an emission post but ill go ahead and put my 2 cents in. the basics of making it 50 stake legal is getting it pretty much approved, money plays a part but of it though but must pass a stangard in emissions. putting on a aftermarket cat that isnt approved is illegal and u can get a ticket for that. but i think steble was referring to is the inspection part of emissions testing. I still have my stock intake box and it wont take more than a couple of minutes to bolt right back. so that part is not a worry for me. sndwagon you can find the mbrp exhaust at their website. www.mbrp.com
