OK...I know this has been discussed in various more specific threads. I've got jut about every thread open, but I have noticed that no one has asked/posted about one thing. Has anyone compiled a list of features/prices/pros & cons of the three tuning options.

I keep hearing that this offers this or that, but I think it might help if someone who knew could post up something that could be stickied...you know what I mean?

Pick the place/person that treats you the best, backs up what they claim and is willing to help you out with it should something go awry.

I chose Hypnotic and have been exremely happy, that's all I can say.

Not asking which one, as much as what does each one actually offer, so that someone like me can easily choose...get me?

Ask each company what options you have. We have it all laid out on our FS/SCT XCalibrator page, but I'm not sure about everyone else.

FS/SCT XCal page

I wouldn't recommend relying on other jetters for this. They may not know all that is offered. I'd go straight to the source.

What you are asking for is a shootout between all the tuners. Same car, same dyno, same day. Everyone bring your guns and have at it and let the HP numbers fall where they may. Sounds interesting but there is a lot more to the tuning game than raw HP and torque. Like throttle response, mileage, smoothness and all the other little things that give you pleasure while you drive other than WFO.

I am on my second tank with the FS X-Calibrator 93 octane tunes (ZEDO and RLA6) and can report that Randy has done his work well! Most impressed with the way the car runs AND it looks like I picked up nearly 3 mpg. The flasher will pay for itself in under 40,000 miles. What a bargain.

Anyway, if someone could arrange a showdown at high noon amongst everyone in the game, I would read the results with great interest. Rob

No...not a shootout...a list, just a list. Like the DIY Turbo Sticky in the FI forum. Like a table or something, I guess no one has, so maybe I'll just do it myself.

Actually I have broken down the differences between the unit before!!

Here it is in a nutshell.
Diablo:
- built in datalogger
- about 400.00 (I dont remember the exact price)
- 1 tune per box
- pretty interface
- can accept tunes via mail
- no self tuning option (that I am aware of)

SCT:
- No Datalogger (currently)
- Up to 3 tunes on 1 box
- 325 dollars
- No digital display
- Upgradeable to the Pro-Racer self tuning package SCT Pro Racer
- Extreme Tuner (I forget the name actualy) allows tunes by email with the EU able to make small adjustments (I believe this is accurate, I cant find the thread)

That's the hardware.
The most important thing is go with a tuner you trust, and thinking long term, go with whatever is supported in yoru local area. For example hypnotic, focusSport, Tom etc... will all be able to work with you via mail for small NA changes. But if you ever decide to go hardcore and go with cams or FI or something, than tuning is an issue and you might want to go with the package a local tuner is familiar with.

Or also think ahead about what mods you want. If you plan on using the FS cams at some point, you will definately want the SCT flasher, as they are the ones who will have the tune for it. If your going to go with Turbo Toms Turbo kit, well you want the diablo...

Hope that helps!

Awesome...now are there differences b/t FS and Hypnotics tune. I'm assuming that they're tunes are what they personally feel wil help and their methods aren't exactly publicized.

Is one geared towards a certain type of car/driver? Just trying to figure out if they're all basically the same or if any of them are biased in anyway. Get me? Just trying to help out those...make a quick reference thread, they seem to be every where else but in this topic.

Both tunes are the best tunes that each tuner believes they can get out of the car. Are there differences? Probably. Will you see them in the power output of your car? Not likely.

CCC I had the same questions going throught my head. I was looking closely at all the dyno results and testamonials. I just bit the bullet and ordered the SCT for Focus Sport. The reason is I have heard good things about Randy and the rest of the guys, and they stand behind the products they sell. There are quite a few poeple in the local club that have FS products and if they had some problem it was resolved quickely.

CCC --- if you're coming to CT any time soon bristol dyno can get you the SCT XCalibrator AND tune your car ON THE DYNO. (for a steal, i might add).

you've got PM.

A shoot out? LMFAO, Lets see, we would need a neutral location, say Missouri. And then Ray from Mcnews, Tom from FP in North Carolina, myself from Georgia, and then Randy from FS in Cali would all start to make the flight/drive to meet at the predetermined location.

CCC, what ever info you would like from me, please shoot me a pm or you can call me at 770-378-3447. I would be more than happy to discuss those options with you.

I say Monday Noon EST time we all stand at the back door of our shops and take a wiz and we will see who wizzed the fartherest. Thats 9 AM your time Randy.

On the other hand I will let you know what door to stand at. The wind might not be blowing in the right direction.

I would get it from focus sport. I thought my tune was screwed so I went to focus sport and Randy checked my tune. He gave me a bunch of dyno runs till he got it tuned right. I found out that it was probably the placed that dynoed my car after the tune that was the problem. Then I some how deleted the tunes on my flasher and Randy reinstalled them for me. So I say go focus sport you cant go wrong. When their tune is in the car you can tell the difference.
