Just curious, local dealer quoted me $121 for O.E.M. pads. Wow, thats alot. Is this correct and if so, throw me some aftermarket brands/part numbers if ya got em', that are a bit cheaper, cause thats outrageous. Normal driver, no racing here. Thanks.

I actually checked on this very topic yesterday. The dealer quoted a high number so I called Midas. Midas quoted $79.99 for the front pads plus $60 to install. While they might not be top of the line, they do come with a lifetime warranty.

BPetty, how many miles are on your SVTF? I've got 35,450.

I paid about $120 for my Mintex 1144 front pads from BAT Inc. If you're not going to be "tracking" your car I would stick with the Stock SVT pads for $78 or the Mintex A/F pads are only $49 at BAT Inc.

If you need front rotors and pads, it's only $139 for Mintex A/F pads and EBC blank rotors.

The fronts for an SVTF are $80.00 right now, The other dealer quoted you suggested list of $121.22.

I just did the brakes on mine all the way around pads and rotors.

The stock pads and rotors on the SVTF are really very high quality parts, you may get some dust but look around at the BMW's on the road, their front wheels are usually black.

I have 31,XXX miles on my OEM's and still have life left, but would rather get them now as to save the rotors from possible damage.
I have 34k miles on mine, I don't know if it's the pad combo or the discs, but I've got a pronounced lip on the outer edge of the rotors. Still plenty of pad material left so I'm not worried, but I'm under the impression that I'm going to have to replace the rotors and pads when it comes time.

The way that these pads bite, I don't think I'd want to use the same rotors for two sets of pads. I'm worried that the heat dissipation will really suffer.

When I did mine I checked the Ford online service manuals and it actually states that because of the pad compound the OEM Focus (all models) pads actually machine the rotor during use which means that there should be no need for machining when pads are replaced.

I replaced my front rotors at about 50,000 because I was starting to get a little vibration from freeway speeds which I took to mean that the rotors were getting too thin to dissipate enough heat.

I would bet that in general the SVT rotors with stock pads will be good for almost two sets of pads to one set of rotors.

I don't know why anyone would want to not use the stock pads unless you're on the track. I think they're great. My only beef is sometimes in the winter they will get cold on a 15 mile or so freeway run and the first applicaiton with them can be a bit of a shoccker as they don't bite.

can anyone get carbotech's for cheap? i want to try those out, and heard they got good reviews

i paid 45 for ceramics from autozone...rear pads r rediculously expensive from the dealer
I have OEM rear pads for $58.60, they list for $88.78.

I was right here in White Bear Lake, it is a small town just north of St.Paul in Minnesota which is in the upper midwestern part of the United States which occupies the lower portion of the North American continent of the planet Earth which happens to be the third planet from the sun.
