So, a guy in the Corral claims he rode in one of the 2007 Shelby GT500 mules the other day. It put down 567 hp on a dynojet!

Who wants to bet that Ford cripples it to keep it off of the GT's toes? Still, this means that the second they break the ECU code for this engine, everybody gets 100 horsepower! Teh win! This thing could be a 10 second car without even overnighting parts from Japan!

usually they dont detune thru the ECU. Most of the time its the camshaft and/or intake manifold.
 
They are detuning through the ECU. I expect the production #s to be close to 485. With only 8.5lbs boost.

Wait till a few of you nuts put keene bell blowers on them!!
Talk about musclecar, 120+ in the 1/4 out of the box
 
i'd expect simple tuning to put the car into the 500s easy. these mod motors seem to take to tweaking VERY well.

O/T, but the latest and greatest in the rumor mill is that a SE Mustang will come out by the 08 or 09 model year. rumors are everywhere, but most bet on it being either another Mach or the BOSS reincarnated. Power will likely come from a N/A 3v 5.4L, although some seem to think a v10 is a possibility. a California edition is highly rumored as well, mainly bc Ford has put out a copyright on the name (or is it a patent? i forget)

the 03 cobra wasn't exactly a disappointment.
It was to me.

No matter how big or how many raises I get, Cobras keep just out of my price range. I'm almost willing to bet these suckers aren't under 40k by any significant margin.

I might be able to swing a 30k car now. But 40k might as well be infinity.

I don't believe any numbers until the production model is on the showroom floor. Then I'll get all excited and pee on myself like a puppy.

Man I hear you, Im in line for the 07 Gt500 and even with what I do I may not get a 07!! First 500 are prommissed to the "power lease" customers and with 7 or 8k being built per year. Ol Ca will get about 800 to 1000 and this store has a list 26 long as of today!!

Really though after spending 2 days running a 05gt hard at Buttonwillow with Redline racing. That may be the way to go, 26k quick and real easy to get to about 350hp. (it needs real tires, those stockers are weak!)

You know, really expensive cars aren't so expensive after a few years. Getting an 03' w/ low miles for $30K private party should take you no time.
You could get a 600whp 03 for $30k, you could get a stocker for more like $25k.
 
Actual horsepower is rumored to be northwards of 500...From an engineers mouth...Its just hearsay, at this point, however...
A Kenne Bell blower swap would also be pointless, as the GT500 already is a wearing a screw blower, not the roots-style worn by the 03-04 Cobras...
Then again, I suppose the engineers could just be blowing smoke...

Oh, and that guy is FOS...He also claims its a convertible...And that a 'great-launching' IRS was fully developed for it...The only fact he did get right was the proposed 3.31 gears...Hes just looking for his fifteen minutes of fame...


I tried to place an order today, or get on a waiting list, or whatever theyd have me do, but the dealer said there isnt one...Then, the guy tried to talk me in to a Roush <insert vomit smiley here> ...Im going to a different dealer sometime this week...I really dont even care if I have to leave like a $2000 cash deposit for a car I wont even be able to drive for 2 and a half years...
