So, Ive been thinking that Im going to buy a new(er) Tacoma before I leave the military next year. Does anyone own one as a second vehicle or know much about them? Ive test driven one and it definitely made me miss my 2000 F-150. Let me know what you think of this truck, preferably the extended cab 4 wheel drive.

2001 was the year the "freshened" the Tacoma and, imo, is the best looking Tacoma ever since.

I drove an 04 Double Cab 4X4 with the V6 and TRD package and it was awesome.

It was quiet, good power, excellent build quality, and was overall a very solid truck.

I was even rated the "Ultimate 4X4" by Four Wheeler Magazine, beating out the Land Rover Discovery, Jeep Wrangler, and even the Hummer H1.

Belacyrf just bought an '05 Tacoma and seems to love it. Awesome truck, and probably one of the best looking too. Just last weekend we got back from towing a trailer with a bunch of gear and his kart, and had to go over some long ascents (CA grapevine) and it had absolutely zero problems. In fact, it still had good pickup even with the trailer.

One thing I found out about it though is that its a much longer truck than it first appears. In fact, I believe his is a quad-cab long bed, and its as long, if not longer than my Titan.

Also, Tacoma's are expensive, but as they say, you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys. If I get a good contracting job here at the puzzle palace then Ill be able to afford one easy enough. I think the blue one next to my focus would look good in my driveway.

My friend is a toyota master mechanic and owns a tacoma. Best truck ive seen and prolly on the market today a long with the frontier. He has the 2. whatever 4 cyl witch leaves a lot to be desired. Everyone i used to work with had the v6 5 speed 4x4's and kept buying newer models as theirs wore out. I think once you buy one, you become a tacoma/toyota owner for life.

I love my truck. I wish it had an optional V8, but this v6 is plenty potent. Of course if this truck had a v8 they would probably not sell any tundra's.

My truck is about 1 ft longer than an expedition

It's a Quad Cab Long Bed. (6 Ft bed).
There have been no problems yet (4K miles) and I just love this thing. I love knowing that it's a toyota. It's wierd to explain, but it's a totally different kind of love than I have for my focus.
