I've been using Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic for about 55,000 miles. I use it all year round and it works great.

I heard its not good to change to synthetic on a "higher" mileage car....is this true?

well, the claim is that the higher mileage engine has worn seals and that it would leak or burn synthetic, but i think that may be something with older(design) engines. i don't see anything wrong with trying it for one interval to see if it works, if what you're talkin about is true, you'll just burn some oil...but i doubt you will have a problem, unless your car is already leaking or burning oil...

If you are only using your car in moderate and above temperatures, then use 10W-30 oil. The 10W flows well for start ups in moderate and above temperatures, and in most cases 10W-30 oils are more shear resistant than their 5W-30 oil relatives.
