ok I cleared the battery and it went away, but my guess is that it will come back so please give me any ideas. thanks
Did you disconnect the battery when you hooked it up??? That could be one problem. Also make sure all the connections are tight.

There could be problems if the intake tube diameter is different where the MAF is than the stock one was, I know on Mazda 3's they had that problem with the first ones came out.

This will only be a problem if he removed the MAF restrictor. It should be left inside the intake, unless you have the ability to tune the engine.

Try cleaning the MAF and IAT sensors with some carb cleaner. If they got dirt or grease on them during the install, or the filter had too much oil on it, then they could be sending weird voltages to the ECU.

Do not forget that Ford recommends a very specific idle/drive cycle within an approximate time frame so that the ECU's adaptive software (?) may relearn idle trim, fuel trim and in the case of an automatic trans, the shift strategy...

It's in the Ford Focus Owner's Guide; find the page in question by looking in the index under the listing of "Battery".

I just installed an F2 intake the day after jet fest and no problems yet! I put about 550 miles a week on my poor car! BTW,... What is the performance gain suppose to be?

After installing my F2 intake on my Mazda3s (2.3L), there was just a slight hint of a stumble. I then disconnected the battery for few minutes, and ever since, it's been smooth as silk, and no CEL. I also drive a crazy amount, too: about 750 miles a week. It's been on for about one week.

Mine does have a quiet whistle, but it doesn't last long--just a short one that I don't think passengers would even notice not being familiar with the way the car sounds with the stock intake.

I've also noticed since resetting the ECU that my exhuast (which is a Draxas 2.5" with high flow cat) makes more popping and burbling sounds. I like it (my old supercharged Focus tuned by Lidio used to do it wickedly). It makes me think that the car's running just a bit richer after resetting the ECU.

Resetting the ECU will force it to plot out new maps or whatever you call it based actually in large part on your driving.

My wife can make my car run like crap because she drives it like our V6 truck and bogs the engine, but resetting the ECU fixes it and the CEL that she manages to produce (I have draxas header, no cats).
