Re: Lowriders

it was too good to pass up... one of those kinda things.

The guys dad is into lowriding so he had a bunch of sets of wheels in the garage, So i basicly got them for almost free!

brand new rims for almost free = A Deal To Good To Pass Up!

I'm a sucker for wires and lowriders, cant help it.
I know it sounds cheesy but I would rock an airbaged(just more practical than hydros for me) 60's Catalina convertible in a heartbeat.

Good god some of those cars are huge! Needless to say I don’t think I have EVER seen any of the cars mentioned on the road in recent times, let alone as a low rider! Well I may have seen one…

In New England cars don’t last that long, and not to mention the fact they don’t fit on the roads here to begin with!
So go for whatever, It would be new to me at least!

Re: Lowriders

Do a 85 to 87 Regal! For the love of all thats 15inches and has spokes,PLEASE buy some knockoffs!!!! I know you got those wheels for basically free, which is good dont get me wrong, but OMG,I hate bolt on wires!!!!Knockoffs are a pain in the ass I know, but man they look soooooo much better.

Get some pics up once you buy the projecr car.

Re: Lowriders

Yeah, that thing was hot in Training Day.

That movie, plus this post, actually made me surf AutoTrader for a '78-'79 Monte Carlo last night.

Re: Lowriders

'73 Caddy Coupe de Ville

My old G-ride (complete with a warmed up 500ci bored .030 over Caddy motor with Edelbrock 750 cfm car and aluminum intake, Comp Cams cam, HEI ignition and true dual 2.5" Flowmaster exhaust) 15.7 s in the 1/4 mile wasn't bad in a 5500 lb. car.

In addition, I like almost all G-bodies, esp. el Caminos, Monte Carlos ('78!!) and Regals.

However, I hope my next lowrider will be a '71 Buick Riviera boattail.

Sorry if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, you got me all nostalgic - but I'd say if you want to do an old truck, hit up a mid-60's Chevy truck or the previously mentioned elky. Just start buying Lowrider Magazine - there's a ton of good looking stuff in there.
that car is HAWT! ph, and my vote would be for a boat tail as well. i always loved the look of those cars!

Re: Lowriders

Do something more like the Low-Rider Ice Cream truck from Friday. You don't see to many of those...

Re: Lowriders

if you are SERIOUS about doing it over, build the rims around the car, not the car around the rims. it's not a real lowrider the rims aren't knock offs.

pick a car you want and THEN get the rims to match. Find you some nice 100 spoke knock off daytons. those look like some old luxors or mcleans with the lost spinners. while they are okay with wire wheels its well worth it to spend the extra money for better quality rims, i.e.. dayton. Look at it this way, theres a REASON why dayton makes the wheels for jaguars.
