i feel like taking the kiddies camping in a couple weeks. we're in the IE... any suggestions on close, family oriented places to go?

There are a few sites off Ortega Hwy... otherwise I think the gypsum canyon rv lot still might have camping, too.. not much for roughing it, but close to home and tolerable for the lil tykes

Not crowded, awesome views of the lake, can rent a little motor boat for next to nothing to putz around or fish off of. You pay on the way in and then can pretty much camp where ever you'd like. They have picnic tables and fire pits all over the place. They even had free firewood. I was there almost exactly a year ago with my girlfriend, her sister, and her two kids.

and right before the park, there's trabuco oaks steakhouse, damn fine slabs of meat for $25 bones. bring a tie and they cut it off and tack it to the wall.. its cool, the inside is covered roof to floor with ties!
