Is the Self-adjusting brake mechanism realy useful? I had problems with mine on my back drum (when I was braking, the shoes did not release completly..) so I removed a spring to desable this machanism and it works fine now

How are your shoes going to re-adjust themselves to reseat against the drums and give you the rear braking power? They should readjust by either going in reverse or pulling up on your emergency brake a few times. I'd THINK you'd have to have them readjust.
The space between the shoe and the drum is minimal so as I push the brakes a little bit, it is braking fine.. I think that this was a wrong design or something went wrong with time. I have been driving like this for more than a week now and everything looks ok
See how they feel after a while. But I'm guessing that after a few hundred miles if they don't adjust all the braking power will go to the front and you'll wear out your front pads and rotors faster than you should and get less braking power.
