Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

From Automobile Magazine

It has taken Volvo a very long time to lay the finishing touches on the V30, but we will see the three-door hatchback in 2007.

It looks like a reincarnation of the classic early-1970s 1800ES. Inspired by the 2001 SCC safety car and the stillborn AAC (all-activity coupe) project, the V30 is a sexy, long-roof hold-all that will share its DNA with the S40, the V50, and the C70.

This is definitely not a utility vehicle, however. It’s a lifestyle coupe with a roomy and versatile interior.

If they can find the money, the Scandinavians would love to add a sporty all-wheel-drive V30R.

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

That looks pretty cool considering that it will be roughly the same size as a Focus.
At a glance, a Focus says "Minivan" to some people, just as this car says "wagon" at a glance.
Look more closely at either and the truth becomes apparent.
I'd like to see a pic next to some other things to give a better idea of scale, but I'll bet that it's alot smaller than it looks in solo pix.

From the photos that jinstall has shared of the MKI Focus along side the MKII Focus I'd expect it to be a similar in that the C30 will be around the same size as the MKII Focus, just a bit bigger than our MKI's.

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

In these photos of the Volvo Safety Concept Car (SCC) it shows that the car is actually a four door.

Got me to wondering if the C30 will offer these rear hidden doors.

Not that they would be suicide doors for safety reasons but maybe more in line with the new Civic (European) hatch.

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

4 door hatch with reverse opening doors in back... awesome. 2 doors, 4 doors, either way this car looks very very promising for my eventual replacement for my focus.

Throw AWD on it and I'll buy her. I am not sure about others, but I would personally love to own a little volvo. Form, Function, and Safety, along with speed and reliability, perfect car for someone who is in his late mid to late 20's and will be getting married and having children in the next decade.

Get this for me, a Hybrid for her and we would be set for quite a few years.

I really like it's odd flat angled rear end, but I am a sci-fi geek at heart and that back just screams shuttlepod/small space fighter.

I really like that light blue silver color in bluebyutoo post, that would be perfect. There are just not enough cars in that light blue color, the color you see right on the horizon just about the white clouds. That is mu favorite color on cars, doesn't work on most cars though, but looked great on the Fox body thunderbirds.

:Crosses fingers and hopes to see this with AWD in the US in 2008 for about 26k:

Hey I was just surfing through the volvo website and they let you buy cars from overseas and import them for you. Now that is just cool. You can even go to sweden to test drive it if you want, before they ship it over. Now that is customer service.

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

I'd only consider this if they worked on that rear end a little. The SCC car looks like the hatch area is almost totally unusable. And please, 3 doors for the rest of us who aren't married and have children to transport around!

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

3 doors is good, 5 doors with them opening backwards is just cool. Either would be fine with me, heck I am the driver sitting in back wouldn't be my problem.

What you are referring to is the Over Seas Delivery Program.

Don't know if the C30 will be an approved car for this program but if it is, its worth doing.

They give you two round trip tickets and a couple of nights in a hotel. You can choose drop off points and delivery includes a tour of the factory.

The program excludes X-A plan but ultimately pays for its self.

Get to tour Europe and do it in your new car.

I could bring the GF over to europe to meet the new car, and then go skiing. Awesome :)

How exactly is that rear wiper going to work? It looks like the packages in the hatch will have a nice clear view but not the driver. Maybe it folds out or something?

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

I don't know if I could EVER afford one, but I REALLY like it.
AWD, TORQUE out the Wazoo, and roomy, yet Petite. (Like the Focus).

Re: Ford Focus ST To Be Brought To Our Shores....

Looks to me like the wiper has a center swivel point.

It would necessitate a hole in the glass for the wiper mount to protrude but that is certainly doable.
