Check out the Pug 1007. Looked at one yesterday, very cool.

Yeah the cars actually daesigned by Suzuki - like the Aerio and Swift are very nice little critters... The Reno and Forenza, and Verona are all just cheap impositions of GM on Suzuki.

I would NEVER step into anything touched by Daeewoo. never trusted that make, and after GM screwed it over I have even less trust in it.. those cars are underdesigned, nuderbuild and undersupported.

The swift will be a solid entry.. end will be coming early enough for people not to notice any void in Suzuki's lineup... unlike Ford with the 08/09 plans for ecosport and fiesta...

I think I almost like the 4-door better...the lines seem to work better.

Suzuki is being pretty bold in using the same style taillights as whats on the Versa. Especially considering the two cars are going to be going up against one another....maybe its just a new styling trend.

This is definetly a cool car though. Lets hope we get a performance version.

Man, the video on that Japanese Swift site is pretty cool, I wish I could actually understand what they were saying though  It looks as if I just found my next car though, assuming we get a nice little 3-door model over here in the states for a decent price :thumbup:

I was just looking through the specs for the car on the global website...it only has ~75hp. Yikes. I mean, the car only weighs roughly 2k pounds, but they are going to need a bit more power for the US market.

Well if they could bump that up to at least 100hp it would still be pretty fun and get great gas milage. Me? I'd could see a 130-150 engine hp car that would be lots and lost of fun!

Bix is right, I'm gonna guess that a direct competitor to the Swift is the Scion xA/xB and if not mistaken, they're roughly 108HP from the factory out of an equally-as-tiny engine. But also like the Scions, if Suzuki can capitalize on a sort of aftermarket appeal in the Swift that I think it'd be capable of getting, the base factory HP numbers would simply be a starting grid much like 130HP was for us Zetec Focus owners

the base model we will get will have a 1.5l 102hp motor,
the Sport model comes with a 1.6l 130hp motor.

I'm holding out for a Swift Sport. I'ts basically the same size as a Mini Cooper

Hummm, 2000lbs, 130 hp motor, I could easily see 15's and probably 14's with some juice or a power adder.....

Yep, the same size as a cooper, hopefully nowhere near the weight, those little suckers are HEAAA-VVVY!
We will see.

Ah yes, how good are the chances of us getting the Sport model over here? I guess I could deal with the smaller engine/HP if I had to but it'd just be much nicer to start out with the Sport. Also, what's the estimated ballpark in price for those?

I havn't found any solid information about what the power train options will be.

I have read that the Fiat Sedici which is what the USA will soon have in the form of the Suzuki SX4 has the following:

"The Sedici offers a 1.6-liter gasoline engine as well as the 1.9-liter Multijet diesel, both combined with five- or six-speed manual gearboxes.

The inline, four-cylinder, eight-valve Multijet delivers power of 120 hp (88 kW) at 4,000 rpm and a torque of 280 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The power unit has undergone several engineering changes to increase performance and engine torque at low speeds and to reduce noise and vibration levels"

If Suzuki really wanted to rock the North American sport compact world IMO they should stick the 1.9 liter, 8 valve, multijet diesel engine with the six speed tranny.

Read about it at the link below:

http://www.greencarcongress.com/2005/11/fiat_introduces.html

Though the power wouldn't be that high at 120hp the torque would rock at 206 lbs!!!

Being that the Swift is so small this power combined with a well designed six speed tranny should do very well. Don't forget about the aftermarket. Somebody will probably make a chip for this car that will bump the power up even more.

The best part about the 1.9 liter Multijet diesel engine is that it gets great gas mileage. I woudn't doubt that it will get close to 50 miles a gallon.

I really (SWIFT RLY?) like the new swift. Very good chance of being my next car, assuming they bring over the sport model. Love the interior.

These are an option as well. If you look on the japanese site posted earlier, they are in the higher end model in the video

It looked like the other yellow Swift Sport in that video had some sort of HIDs/projector headlights. God I'm hoping we get the Sport over here, that front bumper reminds me of a new Eclipse bred with an ST170 Focus, I want it right now :thumbup:

I want to drive this first before I buy, but i'm REALLY liking what I'm seeing.

S, me and you both might end up with one of these guys in the near future, because I'll have my psychology degree by next spring, and these should be starting out around $12K right? Which means I could swing that on down the road while I go to grad school

I can't really think of any good reason not to buy one of these Winnipeg  I mean, Ford obviously isn't in any sort of hurry to make people like us happy with a Fiesta, Honda wants to go back to a small car (I think CRX when I think of that..) but it's a 5-door, and the same can be said about nearly every other 'subcompact' car coming out in the near future or already released. I have nothing against 5-doors, I'd just like to at least have the option of getting my 2-door hatch since I have no real need for anything more than 2 doors at this point in time
