Seems more hype than anything.

Standard ford for ya. I love the fusion, but they REALLY needed to offer a standard w/ the v6.

As for not giving the future performance fusion AWD comments in this post, what kinda bs is that?! And honestly, screw the fusion AND the 500... give me the focus I want!

I'd say the opposite, screw the current Focus and beef up the Fusion/500.

Ford should kill off the current Focus, keep the Fusion as that midlevel car and come up with a new compact. The 500 should have the 3.5 as a standard motor with a good V8 as an option, the 3.5 should be an option for the Fusion.

Focus should just die off and be replaced with something else entirely.

I build the 500 and you may just be in luck! The last Ive heard,...the 3.5 is coming soon and Ive seen some of the refreshed 500 and montegos, & freestyles,.. I think they are getting ready to step them up but not until around mid 2007!!???!! I havent seen the finished product but from what Ive seen, Ive liked the improvements!

you saw right.. Montego, Fivehundred, and Freestyle should be refreshed for 2008 Model Year.
And all of them with the 3.5l V6... the V8 could get in them too , but I would guess Ford will keep that option only for Volvo and Lincoln

BTW about MTX with V6... no need .. whatsoever... They will do well with an ST version with an MTX and good engine, but there is no..i repeat NO desire for MTX V6 in the target population..

We are at the whort end of the stick and it suck, but it is true... saves them money and does not hurt any sales... people would buy the ATX anyways.

BTW I believe ford will more and more puch Mazda as the NON-USDM versions of hteir cars.. you want something more sporty, something offering MTX with each engine, something lighter, even if little smaller? .. Get a Mazda for a stiff suspension, and Volvo if you prefer a lushier ride...

the Ford NA ..catering to the mainstream US MArket has no need for MTX in naything but sportscars, compacts and the cheapest versions of their models.

IMO the Fusion is gay. :thumbdown
IMO your gay  jk

why dont you like it? i mean you have been on this site an eternity and realize statments like you have made are pointless..... its great for what it is..... what in the comptition compares? a ****ing 4 cylinder camry? haha right...... so explain away sir

because i read your post...... you cant get a lexus for the money o a fusion genious...... and not even a jetta for the money..... mazda6 is comperable but they are essentialy the same car so there it comes down to personal styling/opinoin

The 1996/7 Mustang Had Purple paint...its still around ;)

For the most part the aftermarket usually does very well with making an ordinary automobile much more attractable.

I don't care for the Fusion at all, especially not in stock form.

This particular class of automobiles isn't my choice at all.
That pretty much sums it up for me.

Though I would like to include all the FOMOCO clones into that. 500, the Mercury whatsitcalled, etc. etc.

Why don't you like it?
1. It looks cheap in person (the one I saw looked cheap).
2. With every penny Ford invest in this car the Focus gets put aside a little more.
3. The lines of the angles in real life just don't flow with me. This car in person doesn't look near as good as the advertisments or certain angles of what the aftermarket has done with it.
4. This car is a Taurus replacement. It has stepped up a bit but I never liked the Taurus.
5. By the time you add features that would make this ride more attractable you will be spending quite a bit of money. I would rather just save up a little more money and buy a much better automobile.

Those reasons should be enough to justify the "gay" comment.

IMO :D

I have responses to #2 and #4

2. ford actually spent very little money on this car( all 10 CD3 cars cost TOGETHER only $100 mil.) and the car was designed in 2003/4.. so way before Ford even though Focus was about to go down a crap-hole.

4. I would love to people to hate Fusion because it is supposed to be a Taurus replacement.... It is very sad since this car has nothing in common with it, and the whole fact that Taurus was replaced by TWO cars should be enough to feel the distance...

But the rest is your personal opnion, to which you are fully entitled..

I do not dig the car... because midsize is to obig for my tastes.. but for hat it is Fusion is a great car.. and For what it is (even if we hate it) the Fivehundred is a damn great hit as well..

but it is not that WE - i.e. Focus fans - are supposed to melt over those cars.

I like it... obviously since I bought one.

But the damned thing needs a V6 manual. And I am NOT a manual driver. I've had automatics in every car I've owned. The 6 sp automatic transmission just doesn't give the engine its due. They made the car to appeal to the family sedan market (replace Taurus), but they took the time to make it look sportier and dump millions into Gen X style marketing--so make the car live up to its hype and give it the MT.

It is a midsized car, not a compact. I4 might be plenty of power for the Focus, but start adding this kind of weight and Pennsylvania's lust for short, blind highway entrance ramps and it leaves you wanting for some better acceleration.

The styling is in the eye of the beholder. I love it... but I'm starting to like the taillights a little less every time I look at them.

As for price, with Xplan pricing and rebates I got the v6 auto fully loaded at a price I couldn't touch a midlevel 4 banger Camry for. And I preferred the Fusion styling.

They need to give a few more dollars to their powertrain division to get the transmission in a better place (Automatic), and maybe do a smidge more work on an V6 standard. Although the bean counter marketing guys will probably kill it.

Maybe Lentech can "len-d" a hand in making a better valvebody for the v-6 tranny. Since they did the 4 cylinder, the v6 should be a snap.
