he hates on euro cars too man....Watch the episode where he drives a new M5 ...its hilaarous..
Exactly, thats the beauty of the show. If its crap he'll tell you, even if it is british(though those are graded on a curve hehe).

Some people just hate being told when something they like is crap.... Opinions people, everybody has one.

All of you Clarkson haters... what american car should we send him to open his eyes to the beauty of american workmanship??

Maybe the Chysler 300c? Or maybe the Chevy malibu.. how about the Ford Taurus?? Lets face it, Americas love for the big heavy machinery with decent straight line power but crap for handling isn't going to win big in a place where all their roads are curvy.

And everything we love about euro cars, are the things they love about euro cars. Clarkson is spot on, with so many things. I didn't see his show about the vette, but I have to believe his points were probably accurate (though the Z06 is an amazing machine... saw one on the road the other day for the 1st time.. WOW)

Anyways, Clarkson is mostly right. They are fans of nimble, fast, and fairly comfortable cars. I've not seen them vary much on this opinion. And I believe if Dodge had made the caliber like a functional hot hatch like the focus and not made it into a mini jeep liberty, they would have been bigger fans. But seriously.. who thinks the caliber is a great car? It's cute with gadgets, but that's about it.
I think you're missing what I'm getting at. I don't care that he doesn't like American cars. That's fine. Hell, I don't either.

What Ducman69 and I are getting at is that the guy is a no-talent jackhole that is wasting pixels on TV screens.

Not that the other schlub is much better, little Matthew Perry wanna-be assclown.

Give me 48 minutes of old music and a helmeted Stig flogging cars around the test track. Hire Sir Ben Kingsley for the minimal but necessary voice-over.

To use the new phrase going around the office...

Hey, Jeremy Clarkson...

GFY.

but in the sense of the caliber....

it is:evilgrin:

i dont think i have heard one review where they raved about it, mainly all "nice features, maybe to agressive styling, eh"

gotta love a couple of them saying "is this a new SUV segment or something?"

Just like Ducman your missing the point of the show and how it works. Bashing on America and Loving everything British is just part of the charm and they put it on thick to show that its part of the fun of the show.

If you don't like Top Gear you can go watch Motor Trend TV.....
If that went on on an American show (bashing everything not made in the US), it would be run off the air for being culturally centrist and insensitive, and jingoistic.

But it's okay to bash America.:screwy:

Alot of the people that don't like Clarkson have never actually seen a full episode of Top Gear and don't see the whole story and his full Character on the show.

But on top of all that, we don't get Top Gear in America. It takes work to see the shows, so honestly if you don't like it then don't watch it.

A few hundred thousand american's alone download and watch Top Gear in estimates on alot of the Torrent Tracker sites, thats INCREDIBLE for a show that needs alot of work to download. Nearly 1 Billion watch Top Gear around the world....

Its not an entire American Bashing show, they just rib us everyonce in a while.

Funniest thing is you act like American's never bash anybody else.....

With you and i don't kno about you, i enjoy the bashings....kinda like a roast

may be a lil harsh, even cheap...but funny and true as hell!

thought americans were tough with their big heavy cars, maybe you should buy overseas;)

TopGear is sweet, they just need to replace the host. Its like loving America and hating whoever the current president is... they aren't mutually exclusive and America can have a horrible president and yet still attract people from all over the world to want to live here. ;) Who was that other Brit guy, I think he was on a 5th Gear instead of Top Gear or something like that? I know his voice/face but not his name.

Ducman69

...blah blah blah...
Start your own show if you don't like it. ;)

You certainly have the intelligence, the personality, the fundamental knowledge of contemporary cars and a wicked sense of humor. You'd be great! :D

Meanwhile, the Caliber is a turd.

...figuratively speaking.

Clarkson is one of the reasons the show is so popular... Its like say well if you take out Simon Cowell from Idol i'll like it....

Tiff used to host the old Top Gear... Wasn't so popular back then.

Fifth Gear is a great show and still much better than anything we get here, but it doesn't reach the quality and entertainment level of Top Gear.

Ducman and Gob... well you two are just in the minority then!
Because as Clarkson goes, so does Top Gear.

Following Jeremy Clarkson's departure in 1999 the Top Gear audience fell from six million to under three million, resulting in the BBC's cancellation of the programme in 2001

Clarkson is popular. People love him. Heck I love him. He's hilarious, a bit rude (which when using a British accent still sounds polite), and he knows cars!!!

The show is the bomb, and if they ever try replacing him again, the show will dive.

PS.. Fifth Gear sucks

I don't know if I was high during the Z06 part or what, but it seemed to me that he liked it...the only bad remarks he made were in the studio, and about things that really are very subjective anyway. To each his own, I guess.

Fifth Gear seems like the more objective of the shows...if I were relying solely on one of the two to guide me to buying a car through objective, fair analysis, i'd watch FG. TopGear seems like it is designed to entertain, and, IMO, it does.

clarkson hates pretty much anything American so it really is no suprise. He ended up liking the Z06 but he has to throw in cheap comments at the end on how its not a good DD and it falls apart. He really is losing credibility IMO
Ever been to his site and read any of his car reviews?

New Mustang, 4/5 stars. He makes fun of the rear axle and all that stuff then mentions how the car is great to be in andm well you get the idea.

He makes fun of americans because it's dry humor and it's funny as hell over there, but he gives credit where it's due. Seems pretty credible to me
