PW Compliment?!!

Yesterday I got word that my new tires from TireRack had arrived at the installer I picked. I always use this installer due to the quality of their operation(latest computer balancing machine, use plastic coated sockets to protect wheels, torque wrench only, etc.

One of the things they do is when they have the wheels on is to take the car out of the shop and drive up the street a couple of blocks. Then they bring the car to the parking lot in front of the office and retorque the wheels where you can see them thru the glass front.

The owner is a track junkie(BMW CCA) and we always get to talking about our cars, etc. I told him about putting on the PW supercharger. When they called on the intercom to say that they were bringing the car around, I asked the owner if he thought the tech would notice the supercharger. He replied "If he does, he will probably tell me about it after you leave. Probably some remark about how peppy the car is."

The tech pulled up out front, retorqued the wheels and came in thru the front door. The first words out of his mouth were "What do you have in that thing? A 302?" The owner got to laughing so hard he had to get a drink of water. And after the tech rounded up all the other mechanics I got to show off the installation and explain it to the whole group.

I have really enjoyed having the PowerWorks on my car but the tech's comments are the highlight of my experience so far

I'm with you on that one!!
I get nothing but compliments when I give people a ride in my hatch. A girl I work with just bought a 05' Mustang GT. I gave her a ride in my car and she was actually jealous :lol: "This feels faster then my car....and still gets 25mpg???" :lol: I'm glad that there are more of you guys jumping on the PW kit...... it's awesome:thumbup:

If you go to another car clubs track day (BMW, Porsche, etc) they won't be so complimentary though ... too hard for them to catch you.

I've been killing alot of those mentioned cars at autox....and they aren't very happy. I tell them all that it's just a rental car :lol: If they ask if I'll be at the next event on Wednesday/Thursday I just tell them I have to return the car or I'll be charged another day. Such a smart a$$ :thumbup:

That rental car thing is hilarious. Mean, but hilarious.

From the outside, the Focus gets no respect. My family laughs at it, making jokes about it being powered by a hamster on a wheel. Then I take them for a drive...

That's right, baby! The hamster's on steroids! :evilgrin:

I wouldn't trade my PWSVTF for anything! People just don't believe that a Focus is capable of that much acceleration. My friend is here visiting from Alaska, and when she drove the Focus, she couldn't believe how much power it had without having to floor it.

I now have 10K miles on the PW kit and I have participated in many track events with no issues at my current power level.

I must admit Powerworks have made a superb kit. I really love mine, and as STFun will also tell you it attracts loads of attention over in the UK.

Now about that BBK

I want a power works kit. I used to have a roots-type powered car, and I miss it, instant go, no need to get on it to get up to speed, fun as hell to drive, and, the looks on people's faces when they here the blower whine...

i just installed the PW kit on my 03 svt and really cant get enough of it. mine's not a daily driver but i can se myself driving it alot this summer.

Alright you guys, enough circle jerk. PW is great - no doubt. But even with my PW Zetec and H & R coilovers I ain't gonna be beating even my own autox time with my 20 year old Porsche, let alone any modern Porsche rolling stock. Any Cayenne or Cayman or Boxster let alone a 911 off the showroom floor will easily clean the clock of a PW Focus on any course - HP dependent or not.

Focus is the best car I've ever owned, bar none; and the Powerworks kit is the best thing that ever happened to the Focus. But let's keep things in perspective guys. A C-6 or an Ellise are price point miracles that can beat up on Porsches. I don't think Focuses are quite there yet...

...and don't even get me going on STI's.

I love that stuff.

A Focus with good power on track has a polarizing effect on drivers of those 'high performance' cars. They either come running over after the session to see what the hell's going on.... or they don't even want to acknowledge the fact that they got run down by a $12,000 'econobox'. :lol:

I think Chris n' I were some of the first to have the PW.....we've been kicking its ass for over a year and never a problem. And you can tell the guy in the boxer that I beat by .63 sec that a focus wont out run his fancy mid-life crisis car :lol:
