Yeah....me too!! Anytime :)
I think Chris n' I were some of the first to have the PW.....we've been kicking its ass for over a year and never a problem. And you can tell the guy in the boxer that I beat by .63 sec that a focus wont out run his fancy mid-life crisis car
Yeah, I think that's exactly the point here. The mid-lifer can't drive his way out of a paper bag.

Times on a given tight course are what, 60/40 driver/car? What ratio would you propose? I've heard anywhere from 80/20 to 20/80 depending on who you talk to, but I think 60/40 is probably a pretty good average for a typical autox circuit.

I've been to lots of Porsche club autocrosses and have seen Miatas spank GT2's and 120 hp vintage Porsches beat up on new 'vettes. But really, take the driver out of that Miata or antique and plunk him in the GT2 or the C6 and it's a whole different story.

n'est ce pas?

I think its more like 100/0 driver/car. The driver can at least get out and walk the circuit if need be but the car won't move an inch without the driver's right foot on the go pedal.

Congrats on the PW kit Hal. I must have missed that one. Boosted cars are starting to out number N/A cars in the East Coast track rat scene...

After reading all of this, I'm glad I bought mine. I can't wait till it gets here.

Thanks Drew!

Yep, saw a Porsche in that one!

I love that stuff.

A Focus with good power on track has a polarizing effect on drivers of those 'high performance' cars. They either come running over after the session to see what the hell's going on.... or they don't even want to acknowledge the fact that they got run down by a $12,000 'econobox'.
How did they get run down by a 12k econo box? Maybe a 12k "modded" econo box.

....And if they put boost in there cars, they would whop you...a modded car against a stock car really isn't a good benchmark to use when comparing a stock car to a modded car.

ok, and then give the focus the 2 or 4 extra cylinders to even it out.....

Still not stock vs stock...and if it had 2 or 4 more cylinders, it wouldn't be an econo box.

dont be a puss 12k plus another 8-12K to kick a 50k car all day is a feat in its own. be proud of your focus
So your saying I could dump a twin turbo 302 and convert the car to RWD and blow the doors off about anything but, since that equipment is in a focus, even if it has 20k invested, its still a fair fight?

Its like if me and about 15 people came and beat you up, I could say I beat you up, even if it really was me and the other 15 guys doing it?

no it's like me kicking your ass cause I worked out till I was stronger/faster than you than you. like I said be proud of your focus, Im not trying to offend anyone this is mearly an example

LOL, all this fuss. The point is that you can take a cheap, common car (the Focus), make $5,000 dollars worth of mods, and beat up on cars that cost over 3x as much.

It's all about bang vs. buck, baby!

what everyone is saying is dollar for dollar, you cant beat the Focus (escpacially with a PW).

Scotty8, that may be the silliest argument I've ever read.

Seriously!

Let's do some math, shall we?

12k econobox + 5k in mods = 17k modded econobox

So, no matter how you slice it... it's a sub 20k car, running down a 50k car.

How is that not a fair fight? :dunno:

If the 50k car has to add mods to beat the sub 20k car, isn't that kinda embarassing?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the 50k car, but we aren't comparing mods, we are comparing dollars.

We are talking about a daily driveable, street legal, sub 20k car, that runs down 50k cars. Don't you see the fun in that?
