Fuel pump upgrade

I still need a new fuel pump for my 2000 zx3 w/ zetec. I was on focus.c-f-mdotcom and was looking at their ford racing high flow pump and it said that some modification is required for 2000-2001 focus. How would i make it fit?? I've emailed them but they haven't responded back.

Inside your gas tank, there is this plastic ring you need to pop out. 2001 Focus have a bottem mounted filter while later year pumps have a size mounted filter.

but what holds the pump in place??

The pump is like a giant bottle cap that screws into the tank.
There is a retaining ring at the bottem of your tank, that you will need to remove to upgrade the pump.

Yes, all new Ford Focus FPM units come with the float attached.

Hm, it took me about 2 hours. Only because I didnt know about that ring. Once I figured out how to get it out of the tank (make sure you tank is empty...it helps), then its a matter of pulling old out, putting new in, reattacking fuelpipes and wires.

I actually did this today
Just take some sort of cutting tool and start snipping away at that ring and eventually itll come out
the four black rubber things can stay in and youre all set

Giveen, did you drop the tank or cut an access panel under your rear seats?

lol i dropped it down
wasnt too hard
i couldnt get the siphon through the fuel door(you know what i mean) so what i did was take off the supply line and shoved it in where the line connects to the tank and got all the gas out
I read somewhere it said to take off the rear wheels and the exhuast but you dont really need to, I did bend up the heat sheild kinda bad though but it bent right back when i was done so its all good

when you ahd it down, you should ahve cut an access panel/hole so next time, if there is a next time, you'd not have to drop it...

I think I would rather drop it than have a hole, its really not very hard
especially now that i have that ring out, next time i will only need to take the hoses on the front side of the car off and those were the easy ones
It took me like 2 hours but if i did it again it would take like a half hour

Yeah I dropped my tank. Not a fan of cutting a hole in my floorboards.
