Your reading comprehension fails you.
Read it again Mr. Reading Comprehension Meistro. My reply was in his response to $40K for EB Exp OK (notice the person I'm quoting) but that I'd laugh at $40K for a MCS.

PS: Clarkson still sucks more than your reading comprehension though. :D

Yes i know you were talking about the 40k expo, and your comment about double is still wrong..... :screwy: :p

Why are still comparing apples to oranges regarding price?

This car is priced accordingly for what it is. It sold out in the UK and it will sell out in the U.S. Mission accomplished. Isn't that the ultimate goal of car companies... to sell cars?

If you think it's too much money, fine. The car is not for you. But, as I said, they will have no problem selling them.

As Thameth stated, it's NOT rediculous. The JCW MCS' go for around ~$28-30k anyway, so that's really not that much more. I'm just saying I would rather mod mine than spend the money on a GP. For the same amount, I could make mine look better (imo) and faster. Can you say twincharged?

And to the post regaurding why people would buy this rather than the turbo version: clearly you don't know the MINI community. Most of the owners would rather stick with the SC'er than than a turbo. The new MINI's are known for the SC, not a turbo. That said, this is the last chance (thus far) to get a new SC'd MINI. The GP has all of the benefits of the JCW MCS, plus a little.

I actually like the idea of the SC on that car. just something about the whine and instant power tha comes from it. turbo lag is lame and I'd rather have a roots type blower on a MCS then a turbo...(which should be renamed to MCTurbo but that's just me lol)

I really wana go for a ride in one, as i've yet to do that and god i wish I could afford one

Turbo lag is nonexistent on OEM cars.

yeah. if it was turbo'd i prolly wouldn't like it as mcuh myself.

just something about that lil motor with a blower on it, whining and having boost no matter what. in any corner being pulled outta it like no tomorrow.

i'm sure the N/A MINI is fun as hell too, but there's just something bout adding a blower that makes taht car 1000x more fun IMO

This thread is proof positive of North America's penchant for thinking compact hatches are worthless.

I wanted a JCW Mini hadcore last year. I priced it out with every package option and a slew of other extras for just a hair over $40k on the Mini website. I even did it at Jon's house. I think that GP is worth every penny.

Correct, its just a certain character to the car that fits the MINI.
You'd take a roots over a new generation direct injection turbocharged engine (say w/ the latest GT turbo) that'd make more power at lower weight? You've said before you don't care all that much about power, but you do care about weight. Its a no brainer on a tiny inline engine IMO. You're not into forced induction but rather forced denial! Yeah! :p

Let me guess, you belong to the old-school crowd that thinks superchargers make more torque than turbochargers... end of story, right? Remember that the blowers RPMs are directly linked to the engine's RPMs. A properly engineered high efficiency turbo that isn't too big could spool up to maximum RPMs at very low engine speed and then hold that RPM all the way to redline. Notice how Audis turboed cars peak on the dyno at 1800rpm? ;)

not in the least, I enjoy both super and turbo charged cars.

but there's just something i can't explain that would be lost with a turbocharged MINI.

I think it's the sound of the blower more then anything and just the way roots blowers create power that makes it just right

Only 415 sent to the US. Our dealership gets 7 all but 1 are presold at $5000 over MSRP. For $2000 more you can take delivery at Laguna Seca in a special ceremony at the Monterey Historic Races which is hosted by MINI this year.

They will be sold in the US sans the Recaro's due to some obscure US crash test issues.

They ARE fun. I love the car, and everything about it, including the SC whine. The whine is a great characteristic of the MINI, but I would still love a turbo. If I had to choose between a turbo or SC, I would take the SC on the MINI. I do want a turbo......and would love twincharged to have the best of both worlds.

And as for the name, the S does NOT stand for "Supercharged" like many people think. It actually means "Special," so to change the name would be stupid imo.

That being said, I worked my butt off for my car, but wouldn't trade it for the world. I love this car and it is everything I even wanted, especially having a boosted car! I would have gotten a MINI if it was boosted or not, but the fact that it is makes it that much sweeter. I love stomping on the gas and hearing the famous whine of the SC, only to get slightly droaned out at ~6k rpms.

If you have ANY interest in a MINI AT ALL, PLEASE DO NOT drive one or go for a test drive. WARNING TO ALL, you WILL be SOLD! And I can ganuntee you will have one sitting in your driveway!:thumbup:

A turbocharger is a type of supercharger anyway. And twin charging isn't best of both worlds as you have all the complication and work of piping the turbo along with the weight and powerdrain of the supercharger... and the costs of both. The worst of both worlds! ;)
