I'm excited...I think this is my best piece yet! I hope all of you like it as much as me. I just finished it up and have sent the concept to the customer for his approval so we'll see what he says.

The car is being built right now and is currently just a chassis on the ground in a lot of pieces. Lots of work is yet to come on the car, but this is my rendering that will assist and inspire them in building the car.

Anyway, here's the rendering I've been slavin' over for the last week/weekend...

By the way...it's all drawn 100% in Adobe Illustrator 10 as vector art.

I started with pencil sketches and photos of the car for reference and penciled the motor from different photos as well. Then scanned them in and went to town drawing them in Illy.

Are they gonna keep the chrome trim pieces that run down the sides to the back that break up the colors? I've seen a few shoebox Chevy's that did away with the chrome trims, and they were sick lookin, all smoth down the sides. The last one I saw even got rid of the bullet type trims on the hood, and they smoothed the hood, and it was bad ass.

I'm just a huge fan of the tri-5/shoebox Chevy's. I'm currently working on one myself with my uncle. A 1956 Bel Air hardtop. It's gonna be dropped and bagged. It's got a 1968 Camaro rear end under it, and it's gonna have a built 350 under the hood. We're thinking of going with forced induction on the motor, either turbo or supercharger. Kinda leaning toward turbo since he's already done a 57 Bel Air with a supercharged 350. Currently, the 56 is in pieces in his garage, the chasis is done, and we almost have all the bodywork done on it. He fabbed up a lot of pieces for the body himself instead of buying pre-fabbed pieces. Since he just bought a ton of metalworking tools, he figured he'd try them out on this project, which is why it's taken longer than expected in construction time. But, I think it'll all be worth it in the end. Knowing you did 100% of the work yourself makes you feel so much better about building a car than just buying pre-made pieces and bolting it together.

I'll get pics next time I'm at his house, and of course once it's done.

MY COMMENT?

OMG PURE SEX! :D That orange looks fantastic! I hope it comes out that good in real life!

In my opinion, the only orange that belongs on a Chevy is hugger orange, I hope that's the color they're using. It looks sick regardles, just my opinion on orange Chevy's.

Tony, it looks freakin' awesome.

But there is one thing that just looks kinda funky, maybe it's just me...

The bullets on the hood. The one on the left has a hard black line defining the body line, and the one on the right is done with color. It may be correct but it looks kinda funky to me. :dunno:

why don't you post something that sucks so that we can criticize something ;)

excellent work

The only thing I don't care for are the reflections in the windows. They're just a little too random for the crispness of the rest of the illustration. If the horizon line on the side were flat, and then the one on the windshield was more 'delineated' (if that makes any sense) it would be tighter. If there's blue sky on your chrome, perhaps add a bit of blue to the side windows as well....

But I LOOOOOOOOOOVE what you did with the motor/wheel. That came out great!!!!!

i like the glass better now, but i think the bullet may have been better with just a slightly shorter black line.. just my opinion tho ;)
And you would be wrong.
