I have the steeda rear bar... at 28.6mm and it's not abrupt in any way... the rear end will slide out but it is rather controllable you can feel it starting to give. as with quick lane changes yes you will probably have a little bit of oversteer but again it's not as bad as everyone thinks... but that's my two cents
I will avoid commenting on the driving of someone who I do Not Know.
I know that I have a 24mm Custom rear bar.
I know that the SVT came with a 21mm rear bar.
I know that either car will spin depending on how you attack a corner.
I know that you can understeer with a 50mm rear bar if one were produced.
Lastly, I know that anything beyond 25mm on the rear of a Focus is Absurd unless you have over $50,000 backing you, your suspension, and the cars you may tear up during testing if you're ACTUALLY pushing the limits.
;)

*******EDIT: PLEASE Don't Hurt Yourself just to Prove me Wrong. If you want to Break your car, do it on Track with a Helmet, etc.***********

i'm not trying to prove anybody wrong here i'm just trying to help the guy that needs the advice... yeah 28mm is big but any focus will oversteer given the right conditions... i have an 03 svt and used to have an 03 zx3 and the zx3 on a dirt road with a stock rear swaybar was lots of fun... but i'm just here trying to state the fact that even if you do go to 28mm rear bar you can still control it because it is not a sudden loss of control it is very gradual. i just say... don't put someone's product out like it's going to be a major safety hazard... because it's not, even with a stock front bar the car def. desn't oversteer like a 500hp RWD pig when taking a corner at a high speed... if you read right the warning says MAY cause oversteer if used with a stock front bar. so if you plan on changing you front bar as i plan to do around the first of the year the 28 is not as horrible of a product as everyone makes it out to be, so ban me if you want i'm just here trying to pass a valid point about a companies product.

The point is that the conditions don't have to be as extreme with the 28mm bar. It's a lot easier with the 28mm bar than the stock bar.

if you read right the warning says MAY cause oversteer if used with a stock front bar.
There's a reason that warning is put on there. If there easn't an issue.......then the warning wouldn't be on that bar. There really is no need for anyone on the street to use a 28mm bar for a daily driver. Besides, most people would switch out the rear and leave the front alone. Replacing the rear is a lot easier than the front.

so ban me if you want i'm just here trying to pass a valid point about a companies product.
Ban you because you have an opinion? Yeah, we're not that bad.

Has anyone actually used it and said they didn't like it (and do they know what they're talking about?)? Seems like speculation to me. I agree with Michael that people crash all the time with completely stock suspension, so if 1 person crashes with a big rear bar you might suggest that it wasn't the factor in their crash.

I certainly plan to try it this spring. My car feels pretty good right now with the 18/25 bar combo, but maybe it could be better.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
I'm about to toy with the idea that once everything is really sorted out, a Bigger Front bar might help more than the #'s Suggest.
Camber Control being the main issue as opposed to F/R "Balance".
I'll be trying a 3-way adjustable 22.5mm front bar to see if the gains in camber control outweigh the benefits of the front/rear bias regarding rates
The Rate issue affects the distribution of "Roll".
The main reason to worry about roll is camber gain on the front struts.
If that roll up front is contained a bit better, (thus decreasing front camber gain), it might offset the understeer bias that going to a larger front bar might imply.
Of course that only applies to those with an already-larger rear bar, (In MY Opinion), but I'm going to try it out and see how much it benefits with my H&R Race/OTS Koni Yellow setup. (I have Auto-X_ZTS's 24mm rear bar too)
:)
