On a hatchback taillight, does anyone know what color the turn signal wire is?

There should be three wires going into the brake lights. I can only figure the black is ground. What color is the brake, and what color is the signal? This is for a 2000.

In this picture, is the turnsignal the blue wire right?

Oh crap, I forgot the brake/signal was wired thru the same. I'm gonna have to rethink this over...

the wiring you need is inside the hatch on the left side under the carpet.

using smurf(i think it was his) how to, you can figure out which wires you need to splice into to seperate the blinking and brake light.

or just search back for Euro Tail wiring how-to, there was a big thread w/ pix on it a couple months back

Alright, I fineshed them finally. I've been wanting to do this for a long time with US-Spec tails...:D

The wiring was a beotch to do in a 35degree garage. If it were warming, it would'nt have been so bad...my fingers are still cold.

Ok, another question for people with EuroTails. Did they have problems with the signals flashing fast? I did'nt have this problem before. The only thing I could come up with, was either the new singal bulb is not big enough, the car is thinking there is a blown bulb, similar to the LED bulbs. Or, when I cut the rear singal/brake light, it now thinks the bulb is burnt out.

Then you messed the wiring up somewhere.
Tint the lens amber?
Not sure where I could have messed it up. I pulled the brake light from the right wire. Unless, the prob is where I pulled my signals from, the hazard switch?

Yes, my lens is now orange/amber:evilgrin:

Alright. I got one of those things for LEDs tails, which I might end up still using, since I want to use LED bulbs back there as well.

So for the time being, I'm just going to let them blink really fast. When it gets nicer out, I'll screw around with the lights some more.

this might help:thumbup:

Hey Jason, when you use that green wire into the new signals(old reverse), won't those lights light up at all times? That would work if one were in a hurry, but I want it done right. So the signals only flash, and don't stay on.

To make my Hella tails work properly I wired the top brake lights off the center brake light wire. They do not act as turn indicators. The center light is wired off the park lamps, and for the bottom light I ran a wire from the front indicators, they only work as indicators, not stop lights.

After that I was found my signals were doing the speed flash crap, so I wired in two bulbs off the brake/turn wire and just sealed them in plastic containers inside the hatch paneling. You can't see them, everything works and if they burn out in there I can replace them. There's probably another way to do it but this way worked and was free.

This is the hazards flashing, park lights on, and just a reflection of the flash on the brake lights

This was with the brakes, hazards and headlights on as well as the rear foglight which I had temporarily wired to come on with the foglights, which was a stupid idea...

Oh yeah, the center brake light wasn't working in these shots, I didn't even notice it until about a month later, I just didn't reconnect the wire... oops...

I got pulled over because these lights are "not visible enough" These shots were taken in a very well lit shop, at night they may as well be little red headlights. I took the car in for inspection and the car is now road legal with these lights. Luckily for me SGI sucks so they didn't realize I only have one reverse light, but I don't care, I have the papers if I ever get pulled over.

Yeah, that was the other idea I had, was just getting another set of light bulbs, and boxing them in somewhere.

So when you wired from the grille, it still speed-flashed? I'm assuming thats the same thing thats happening to mine, there isn't enough load from the bulbs, so the computer thinks there is a bulb burnt.

I got a load suppreser here, I might have to try that. Its supposed to put load on teh wiring when flashing, making the car think there is all the bulbs working.

But I still need to try Silfox's idea, and drag a wire from teh grille back, and see if that works.
