I hate vehicles that "start at" $21,000 but if you option out the top model you end up at $39,000.

$18,000 in options just seems like they don't know what market they are shooting for.......

Give me a model, with 3 or 4 trim levels, and a couple of options to choose. Don't nickel and dime me for every single option I might want (cruise, ashtrays, etc...)

At the same time though i hate packages that stick me with options i don't want. With MINI you can either buy packages or ala carte options. But the Ala Carte options usually add up to the same exact price as the packages.

Best way to customize your ride exactly the way you want it.

Steering wheel, engine, one seat, brakes, no interior, no options, no A/C.

Well I was at the Chicago auto show last night and was having an arugument with the people at Volvo. They are telling me that the Volvo C30 I qoute "IN NO WAY WILL BE PRICED OVER $28k FULLY LOADED" I thought this was odd considering from what we can all see that Fully Loaded according to what people are posting is well over the $28k price?

How sure are we that this buildup thing is correct pricing?

We are not sure at all. The prices on the site noted that they were subject to change.

Packages may be offered that would offer items in a bundle, reducing the cost, as they are offered on the S40 now.

If what they said was true, it's very good news.

So, since you saw it in person, what are your thoughts on the car.

Thanks for the info.

yah I talked with the general mgr (I think it was) at the CAS today and he said this bad news...first off...they were suppose to hit here in June. well that won't happen. They are gonna hit here prolly around Sept. Even that is iffy he said. Then he said it IS just comming out as FWD first, but AWD and possibly R are both huge possiblities since they are discoing the R's now and the S40 has the same driveline and whatnot. The prices on the website are PUR ESTIMATE and don't reflect the real price. I then told him I priced one and it ranged from around 26 to 35 or so how I wanted it and he said he couldn't tell me whether it would range from 22 to 40 cause they don't know the set price. Well that didn't really help me out, but there is some cool info for y'all.

Guarranteed that the R version will not debue before the C2 focus does in 2010...the same platform that will allow the next RS to come out. (C1 will not, even tho they have 10 or so prototypes..however they are full-AWD so the C2 RS will be)

...but thinking that that C2 focus will most likely offer a AWD option, this will follow suit. I just hope they don't mess this car up too much or at all when it debues.

But only time will tell with this car...which to me is the ultimate feeler for Ford to see how the US likes the C1 and how much of it will be carried over to the C2

Well like you said I finally saw the vehicle in person and was stunned. I honestly did not think I would like the added lip kit to the car being a different color but they showed one of the vehicles with the kit on it with the vehicle being a white metallic and the added on lip kit was a dark cocoa brown metallic. It was stunning in person!

The vehicle seems to sit high in person, which is what I orignally thought of the Focus when I first saw it also. This wouldnt be a discouragement from buying the vehicle though as there are for sure spring kits going to be made available. I would probably lower the car for daily driving about 1.2" and for me personally being young and dumb would go with a 2.5" drop probably.

The interior is VERY CLEAN. Its odd, as walking around the Chicago auto show every interior was packed with buttons and trim peices EVERYWHERE yet you sat in the C30 and it was just CLEAN. I think the dash is awesome as there is almost nothing to it. It is very calming and I think puts more focus on driving the car.

Another small thing I loved was closing the door. The door just sounds SO SOLID when you close it. It was cool too caus the auto show is so loud and when you closed the door to the C30 it was just QUIET it was awesome.

I have one thing to say though....it seemed as if there was NO LEGROOM for the rear passengers. Anyone else notice this? I am 6'0" exactly and sitting in the drivers seat I dont think anyone could sit behind me really comfortably considering its a rear bucket seat it would be that great sitting on an angle in the seat.

OVERALL out of everything at the Auto show and being realistic the C30 was the only vehicle I would purhcase if I saved for a year or 2 and was willing to take on some high payments.

Anyone else get some mail from Volvo this weekend?

I received a full packet with DVD about the overseas delivery program and also received another envelope with 2 pages inside it. One page being a color ad for the C30 and the other being a full page about why people buy Volvo's and answering the question as to what the Volvo Iron Mark is about.

awesome, maybe we'll meet up or something. I'll probably be spending the day and staying at my sister who just moved to Parkslope in Brooklyn.

I'd be down, planning on spending the day down there at least

probably won't be in the car, just taking the train down (from westchester) but I'll like to meet and what not. I don't like leaving my focus unattended in the city:lol:

If we wanna do a shoot down there or something like the good 'ol UFO shots back in the day, that'b be cool and i'll drive her down.

I sat in one last night (possibly the exact same one, colors match, down to the odd brown lip kit). I'll pretty much echo these sentiments as well. The interior was very well laid out and not distracting at all. The pedals were nice brushed aluminum with rubber grips, and the shifter seemed to be placed ergonomically. The seating position was pretty similiar to that of the 350Z I sat in a bit later, but the ****pit was a bit less boyracerish than the Nissan. The view out the front seemed like it was a bit hindered by the large snout. I think thats one of the things that spoils me about my Focus is that you have a good view of the immediate front of your car.

Realistically, this is the one car that I could see myself stepping up to as my next car. That would be much dependent on driveability, though. I want something nimble, agile and a car to be driven, not commuted in and from what I've heard this car is a bit of a tossup in those areas.:dunno:

you'll be suprised im sure, once u get a test drive.

While some (including the most recent killing of TopGear) say its a lot of fluff...in general, you'll feel different.

They are comparing it to a lot of cars that are soo harsh, powerful, and track oriented that cannot be able to drive everyday without some petpeeves.

...im sure they'll be a lot of them on the JET once it debues, and remember, the "softness" is generally attributed to the change in shocks/springs. An easy mod (that may even be available from Volvo)

^tires too... im sure volvo will put some overpriced allseason michelins on this car.... when you can get grippier tires for it and have yourself some real fun
