Before i went and filled up my tank i was wondering if 92 octane is safe to put into the focus, if it isn't, then what can i use to boost fuel combustion in a maner that will not hurt the engine.

thanks

derek

I run high octane at least once every other week. It is good to do to clean carbon deposits and fuel injectors. Much better than fuel injector cleaner which is pretty much junk. I also run 92 or higher at the track. So, go for it

.... dont you have to buy a lead additive these days for that? i didnt think leaded fuel was still in production...

anyways... stock foci... 87+ wont hurt anything... i currently run 87 mainly because i dont have any reason not to... but... you will see a decrease in fuel mileage while running higher octane fuel mainly because the car is tuned from the factory for 87... unless otherwise stated (such as the svt model)

it does do good on occasion as others have said...

if you are wanting to improve performance... higher octane fuel isnt going to do anything for you on a stock motor... what mods do you currently have and what are you looking to do?

anyways..

right now i have an intake and an exaust with new wires, coil pack, and plugs. ive also heard that the octane booster can help save gas milage and increase power. if i were to get octane booster who should i go with.

if the car isnt tuned for it... it probably wont do any good... (not absolutely possitive on that... but pretty sure)...

i'd look into getting a tune or perhaps an xcal2 before worrying about moving up to a higher octane rated fuel... that way you could see and feel the difference instead of just your wallet feeling it... :)

anyways... someone please correct me if im wrong.

hope i helped some

Don't bother I have only seen one post that said it was better, everyone else says it is junk. Higher octane fuel does not mean more power, it is used for high comp, or fi engines for safety from deto. You should not have a problem with deto with your current mods. Save the money from the extra cost in gas and get a tune :) even slightly modded foci get some good gains if done right. But if your heart is set on high oct fuel it will not hurt you to run it now and then, but I wouldn't do it all the time unless you tune for it.

edit: Acid I typed the same thing while you were typing lol

aiden - i seem to do that offten... lol:p

as for booster... ive used prestone before... but didnt really notice a difference... most of that stuff is just junk... and honestly i wouldnt use it...

keep your money and spend it on something that will net you more of a gain

as for fuel... do it if you want to... but i wouldnt suggest doing it on a continuous basis

Get a tune for the higher octane first, then you can make use of all its POWA.

Don't put octane booster in your car. It's all garbage. Just put regular gas or +

There is some legit stuff. Others are junk you're right. Lucas and Gold Eagle 104+ are both legit.

But yes, as stated, upping your octane is "safe" but it won't get you more power. You need to be tuned for that.

^ yeah thats only cuz you have one of those fancy sucky intakes :p

Higher octane will do nothing for your car. Octane numbers correlate to the fuel's auto-ignition temperature and combustion properties. Higher octane fuels will allow your engine to have a more agressive spark timing, thus making more power at the expense of gas mileage. Unfortunately our cars aren't tuned to take high octane fuel, so they won't benefit from it. Get an X-cal or SCT chip

i just filled up today, and im surprised! it actually improved my acceleration. i cut the quarter mile time by a second. and i got more torqe out of it and now i can burn out when i want with out the e-brake. so my question is, is why would my car get response but others say they didn't notice it. i don't have a chip or anything in the ECU but i still get better performance. ive also came across 97 octane, what would that do if it was put in the tank?

if what you're saying is true, then i've gotta try that sometime. i wouldn't exactly say "go for it" on the 97 b/c thats gonna cost you a little more than what you are already running.....

i've also heard of some "not-so-brights" around where i am putting small amounts of alcohol and even lacquer thinner in their tanks, i wouldn't listen to someone if they told ya to do that....
