Quick question here:

Who bought the car (my old one) from FocusSport Vik? I know he blew the motor a few months ago and want to see how it's going for him. He was on here a few times too.

His name is Gabe...he is friends with ******...he came to a few Fudds meets, but I dont think he comes around anymore. Some of my car parts (sparco seat and FS header) ended up on the Flea FYI ;)

Yeah, he's name is Gabe. He's my co-worker. He lives in LA and sometimes comes down here to work. He's car is still not working. He spent so much money after getting the engine together, but no one seems to be able to help him out.

The car just won't start up. It'll be cool if you can help him out. He bought the car for $8K IIRC, but he spent almost $4K trying to get it up and running again. I'll PM you his cell #

I can't do much from here due to my limited phone time. I get two 15 min. calls a week, so I spend them on my family. I think I offered to help him a while back, but I'm not sure since I get so many messages asking for help...LOL.

It's kind of weird since the car was bullet-proof for about 98K miles. I would be able to help, but I would need the car and be able to tear it down and really look it over., and that won't happen until at least August.

Better yet, I'll trade him my almost stock Kona for it.:D

 when did you get a Kona?????

oh, I didn't know that you had another "project" :D

Hey, I still have the car.
I am driving a friggin 96 toyota land cruiser. It is just like a Focus, except huge and crappy! Man this thing has been peevin' me off. My last resort was to take it to Bill Kennedy in La habra and see if he could work some magic on it. I have not had a chance to do that yet though. I even managed to get it registered...(lol - DMV manipulation).
I am still in Pasadena. ****** gave you my digits so feel free to call me or PM me. I am open to any and all options. :D

Actually this experience has rekindled my affections with my '94 ZX-9R Ninja. But that will just lead to a world of hurt, as it almost did many times before...and the Mrs. is not too happy to see the renewed interest.

"almost" stock Kona you say?...

Late.

Gabe whats wrong with the car...chances are I can get it running...I can get ANYTHING running.

 yeah...FREAK ACCIDENT...Like how I accidently put that 12lb pulley. :D

fire extinguisher might not be a bad idea though. ;)

Well, I got a nearly new bottom end from Vik and had another shop put it on. After a bit i got it back but...I was pissed at the shop and pulled it. They said that it still needed a CAT (hence J's race header), but other than that it was running fine, so i got it and it sounded like a lawn mower. I had Vik do a quick run thru and worked some plug magic and a couple corrections to the kit install and then it ran like a champ, for about 3-4 weeks.
Then it had trouble starting. Annoying at first, but manageable. After about 2 weeks of occaisional "Why is this happening to me", I was having to push start it. So I stopped driving it unless absolutely necessary.
In one case it died in SD, and i had a guy look at it and the electrical load on 3 connections (not sure which ones) was so great that they melted!. The guy said that it was probably that grounds were not connected properly. I just had him redo the melted wires and it started.
Couple weeks go by and more starting issues. So I had been getting advice from Power Works, Vik, and more recently Bill Kennedy, and have been having the dealership store it. I say store it, cause i get a piece replaced, they say "that did not work", then i leave it there for a week or so and repeat the process. It backfires and sputts, but if you did manage to get it started, it runs.
I have been trouble shooting it eversince. My next step was to go to Tri-Gen and see what they can do, or think about butchering it up and going a different route car wise. :(

It has a new battery, starter, TPS, Fuel pump, Plugs, The ECU shipped to PW for a reflash of the program, The fuel system was checked, all grounds and cables checked, injectors checked, top end inspected, other misc crap checked.
I am quickly running out of the money i had earmarked for upgrades to the motor (Block, rods, pistons, etc.) but figure that if i can get it running with its current set up, then i wil be happy.

Thats the deal...

The car just won't start up.
We had the same problem with elderfeces' SVT: we had been trying to start the car repeatedly, but without FIRST leaving the key on long enough so that the fuel pump would pressurize the fuel rail...

Well the car is at Tri-Gen now. We'll see what Jr. and his pops can do for the car.
