Well, I got a nearly new bottom end from Vik and had another shop put it on. After a bit i got it back but...I was pissed at the shop and pulled it. They said that it still needed a CAT (hence J's race header), but other than that it was running fine, so i got it and it sounded like a lawn mower. I had Vik do a quick run thru and worked some plug magic and a couple corrections to the kit install and then it ran like a champ, for about 3-4 weeks.
Then it had trouble starting. Annoying at first, but manageable. After about 2 weeks of occaisional "Why is this happening to me", I was having to push start it. So I stopped driving it unless absolutely necessary.
In one case it died in SD, and i had a guy look at it and the electrical load on 3 connections (not sure which ones) was so great that they melted!. The guy said that it was probably that grounds were not connected properly. I just had him redo the melted wires and it started.
Couple weeks go by and more starting issues. So I had been getting advice from Power Works, Vik, and more recently Bill Kennedy, and have been having the dealership store it. I say store it, cause i get a piece replaced, they say "that did not work", then i leave it there for a week or so and repeat the process. It backfires and sputts, but if you did manage to get it started, it runs.
I have been trouble shooting it eversince. My next step was to go to Tri-Gen and see what they can do, or think about butchering it up and going a different route car wise.
It has a new battery, starter, TPS, Fuel pump, Plugs, The ECU shipped to PW for a reflash of the program, The fuel system was checked, all grounds and cables checked, injectors checked, top end inspected, other misc crap checked.
I am quickly running out of the money i had earmarked for upgrades to the motor (Block, rods, pistons, etc.) but figure that if i can get it running with its current set up, then i wil be happy.
Thats the deal...
